Forums - Nintendo - WIIU FIRMWARE UPDATE LIVE!!!

40 minute update, if my wifi doesn't crap out.
The off-tv Wii support will be nice to have for the kids, and wii fit until wii fit U comes out.

What a joke, off-tv Wii support doesn't use the gamepad as a controller. I really hope it's a work in progress, otherwise Nintendo just piss me off.

@KylieDog The sensors are built into the gamepad as far as i remember.

So an update that contains nothing useful? Typical.

Nintendo working hard to provide you with things you don't want

Edit: That sounded a bit trolly, but has ANYONE ever thought, 'I wish I could play Wii games on that tiny little screen while still using a Wiimote.'

It does feel rather pointless. If they want to further integrate something from the Wii, make Wii Virtual Console playable on the pad.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The only alternative I could think of would be hard-coding the second analogue stick to act like the pointer, and even then, how would you do other Wiimote-essential things? To do otherwise would breed too many problems, though i'll admit this solution certainly leaves a lot to be desired.

So how does the off-TV for Wii games work? You need get the Wii sensor bar and stand it above the WiiUpad screen somehow (sellotape?), prop the screen up somehow and play with wiimote?

That doesn't sound awkward at all.

Easier would be to put the sensor bar BELOW the wiiupad.

But apparantly people say the gamepad has a sensor bar already on it, didn't know that.

Just don't support games that requires Wiimote, but support those that are playable via the Classic Controller Pro. Argh! I want to play Xenoblade Chronicles on the Gamepad!

anyone knows if the problem with youtube was fixed?

My system just froze after browsing some videos. I went to most popular gaming youtube videos and it hard crashed on scrolling. Waiting didn't help anything, I had to power it off forcefully. So no.

It's just that simple.

Don't care much about GamePad support for Wii games. Browser screencap function sounds cool. Can anyone confirm a difference in the speed of the OS? Any improvement there at all?

Felt slightly faster. Going in and out of eshop and such. Could be placebo though.
