Why does it matter so much that it's not portable?

Would you not consider this a 360?

but it is portable just not a handheld

Ok then.

If sony started selling this, do you believe its sales should count towards PS3 sales?

If you say no, then your logic is perfect and we simply have different opinions on what makes a console a console.

If you say yes though, then I'd just be even more confused with your opinion.

It's still a Video-Game, it doesn't matter if you can play it at your home, hotel or bus.

Using YOUR own words:

Yes, it's still a PS VITA, because the hardware has not been altered.

The hardware has been altered though.

Just like 3DS -> 3DS XL -> 2DS

why do people make a 2ds comparison? XL is a larger version of 3DS, 2DS is a clam less shell design without 3D screen. Vita and new Vita model is the same with the new model having a gig memory/lcd screen/smaller. PSV TV is a completly different hardware that plays vita games as well as many other feats. You cant compare it. 2DS does everything a 3ds does. PSV TV doesn't expect play vita games. Its not portable, its no buttons/etc

SAME hardware, SAME OS with no screen and with another controller.

"no screen and with another controller"  Also not a handheld anymore. Im telling you bro, if sony never added the name vita to it, i bet nobody would say it was a vita But wateves! It'll sell well no doubt

It's name is VITA because it plays VITA game cartridges WTF??? Should it be called PS4 Mini? If it doesn't even run PS4 software directly???

And b*tch please you think Sony keeps checkin the week numbers on VGChartz that they need to make it's name like this just to add for VGChartz numbers?

WAKE UP! They're using the Vita Hardware and trying to sell it another way... As everybody keeps saying and saying PS Vita failed to give them big profit so they decided to use the same hardware without some of the expensive components of it like the screen so they can sell it for smaller price and not take a big loss on the R&D selling another type of console.

lol, slow down there buddy. You can combine them idc. Sony combines psp+psv numbers on there Quarterly reports. Im just giving my opinion. Sales count Vita as a handheld which PSV TV is clearly not. But if your so mad about fine. Add the numbers together lol

Platform Totals separates Handhelds from Home Consoles?

Man Sony is so brillant they invented a way to boost their software to their Hardware on both Consoles and Handhelds that's simply fantastic! This is bigger then the Genesis, Video Games charts will never be the same it's like the mark 0 in video-game history. ROFL

The Bitch is back! And better then ever! #BritneyReturns

SONY Bring them BACK for PS4 and VITA!

Tbone51 said: Okkkk? Yes Sony is a genius then for doing that. No matter wat though people compare Vita to PSP or to DS or 3DS cuz its a handheld. Like i said before if you want to combine it go right ahead, i think sony will to since they combine psp/vita numbers as well. Dont need to go crazy lol.

Ok just tell me what a handheld is, is it a video-game? Tell me what a home console is, is it a video-game?

Ok, so I will be more resonable PS Vita TV SHOULDN'T be counted on the Handhelds charts as it's not a handheld.

But that's a subchart and in the PLatform totals they should combine PS vita + PS Vita TV because they are the same platform to play those softwares... agree?

It's a PS3 taken apart and put in a custom shell with a TV and DS3 shoved in too! Pretty sure it even has the disc drive.

Here's an N64 portable.

Also Matt brings up an interesting point. If history decides that PSVita and Vita.TV sales shouldn't be added, then PSVita games could have attach ratios over 100%!

Ok shawty I'm sorry I may have sounded rude... :P

I'll give you that then! They shouldn't count PS Vita TV on handhelds charts...

But I'm talking about platforms! AKA http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/

PS Vita + PS Vita TV are the same hardware and platform so they should be added together here.

How will Vita TV do well in japan since they are mostly after handhelds?

If vita, as a handheld isn't doing amazing in japan how will the vita tv?

I don't see it being a success in Japan, maybe in the west though.
