The app thimg about WP8 is old. Theres loads of apps. And also better apps that arent on IOS/Android designed specifically for Metro. That arguement no longer holds any wieght. If the app your looking for isnt there, theres usually a better alternative.

Yeah, that being said, Microsoft sure isn't in a hurry to fix the "music duplication" problem that has been plaguing the OS forever now.

Not sure what that has to do with apps, bit anyhow it was fixed in the last release., which was only the second major update.  Not sure if that qualifies as in a hurry or not?

....anyhow GDR3 is due soon with yet more improvements.

If the issue was fixed, it doesn't apply to my phone...

And I just plugged the issue here because I wanted to know what some of you guys did to resolve the issue... If you have. :P

which phone?  have you had GDR2?

I don't have a high-end model. I wanted to try the interface and the Lumia 520 was offered to me by my service provider for continued customership. =P
I took it to familiarise myself with the Windows Phone interface to see if I'd concider getting a higher end phone for my next upgrade (once this on has run its course). So far, yes, my next phone will be a high end Nokia.

I really like the interface. It's much better than Android to me. But I always use my phones as music player when I go for walks, etc... So, this music duplication thing is really annoying. Especially since the music files aren't the ones being duplicated. It's only the menu listings of them that is...

In any case, my phone does have GDR2 with Amber. It doesn't have the fancy cam apps the higher end models have, but that's because it doesn't have the cam hardware to support it in the first place, and from what I've seen, only the 9xx+ models have it...

An argument that Mac users have made for a long time.

But the fact is, there's always an edge case that comes along sooner or later and makes you want to use Windows. Satisfying those edge cases, not just the core apps, are what seperate the dominant platform from the rest.
