Guys, we don't have data for digital sales and GTA 5 released only on Playstation digital. Considering it is sold out since launch around here, I'm sure some people are buying digital because they have no other option. This may also have to do something with the gap.

Even I'm considering getting the game. And I'm usually quite critical of GTA. :O

You never know about that, actually. The thing with these games, while they have legs, is that they get the brunt of their sales from the GameStop/preorder crowd. Which is why this sold so well, impressive as it is, week 1. Guaranteed a huge chunk of that was pre-orders. It'll continue selling, no doubt, but I'm not sure the kind of lifetime numbers some are probably imagining will ever be hit.

GTA San Andreas is actually at 25mil - 27mil, confirmed by R*. VGChartz has a tendency to undertrack sales.

You expect GTA5 to sell over 50 million copies? You have to be joking, you have to be.

The fact alone that people actually thought COD was more popular than GTA, despite both games always average 25mil+ sales are fools. People forget that at 1 point, San Andreas was the highest grossing game, then GTA4 broke that record. GTA been on top of the gaming world for at least a decade. COD releasing every year is their bread, & butter. GTA can take off 5 years, & smash 4 COD games in 1 week, as evidenced.

The guys who are talking about how much Hardware this will boost, people thought the same about GTAIV, I remember the NPD thread on Neogaf was down because nobody could believe that the HW sales didn't got a huge boost.

Impressive, i think Agent will be the only game that can ever top these numbers in the forseeable future.
