The Canadian price is $499 CAD, but when converted to US dollars, it is $485 USD.

The Canada (Montreal) price includes taxes (14.957% for QST + HST), for a total price of $573 CAD or $557 USD.

I am assuming that California has the highest tax rate, which is why they would have included it in their listing.

I don't see what part of my comment led you to believe I wasn't aware of all this. The point is that it is possible to buy a U.S. iPad for 499 USD in Oregon, but it's NOT possible to buy a Canadian iPad for 499 CAD anywhere in Canada (well, maybe if you're an unethical reseller...). The chart appears to be trying to capture the dynamic range of prices for U.S. and Canada, but the low-end is basically a lie.

Shocking difference indeed! I would still prefer going for one of the latest iPhones that going to Malaysia to get a cheap iPad. The latter is indeed great for gaming and games like Ninja Barbecue Party https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ninja-barbecue-party/id675171656, that I have been trying on my iPhone would surely look pretty awesome on it. The iPad is actually pretty awesome for gaming and games like Infinity Blade III http://infinityblade.com and htps:/itunes.apple.com/en/app/angry-birds-star-wars/id557137623?mt=8 are ideal to try on an iPad.
