Well It is kinda low but much better than the first XB so its a positive , They were also doing pretty good in Japan for the first 3 years.

Isnt JP one of the better countries sales-wise for 360?
While the number is tiny in comparison to the competition, its still a good enough number for the machine to get continued support.

I stand corrected.
He's right, relatively 1.7m sold in Japan is a good number, it's not like it bombed with 200k or something.
It's just the competitors did so much better.

Lol pretty much this. As someone else has already pointed out the previous to current gen comparison growth falls apart when you consider the 360 has been out for 2x as long as the original xbox so any quote on quote growth is statistically irrelevant. Also as most people that are familiar with japanese culture will tell you they are extremely brand loyal, and its gonna be a cold day in hell before they embrace microsoft like sony/nintendo, but i give them credit for at least trying to break thru.
When there isnt even a release date for the "tier 2" country and a console $100 more, with less games specific to japanese market as well the initial negative reception from consumers worldwide over everything - Xbox One will be lucky to reach half the amount of 360
The sales of the X360 in Japan are pretty sad but the PS3 sales are also not party worthy, I expect that PS4 will do even worse next generation and same for Xone.
Makes me all sad because I enjoyed some of the JRPG's on consoles but I guess those times will not come back.
Are they kidding or sh#ting me ? (I don't believe them one bit for a country that has a population of 120 million.)
