Could that have being anymore obvious considering that the vita isn't needed anymore and so is the 3DS to a lesser extent.

It doesn't matter how big mobile gaming gets, Nintendo will always have secessful handhelds.

Sony could have easily dethroned nintendo in the handheld market space if they released at $150 and not at an expensive $250.(I guess their fixing up the mess now with the vita tv)

The 3ds is on track to sell better than the original ds, there is no way Sony could replicate those numbers, the software on the vita doesn't compare to the 3ds's.  I'm not against the vita, I plan to get one, but Nintendo is on another level in the handheld market.

LOL what? No.

Aye? I thought was on track to sell much less?? Isn't it selling far less than the DS did in the US?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-06-3ds-sells-twice-as-many-as-ds-did-in-its-first-year-in-the-us

I also found this that says the 3DS sold double the DS did in the US in its first year so not sure where you got its selling less.

Obviously true, and yet only if you think the handheld market begins and ends with dedicated gaming platforms. The only reason people don't consider Apple and Android devices handheld consoles is because they don't "play by the same rules" -- so there aren't exactly a lot of multiplatform 3DS/Vita/iOS/Android games.

But phones have not hurt the video game market; they've done the opposite. They've only hurt Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, as the hardware makers.

I game on iPhone, and both handhelds. I like all of them, they all have games no one else has.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Really, source?  Even so considering the DS launched at $150 I think and the 3DS launched at $250 it had a really rocky start and even after its price drop its still more expensive, after the $130 model, Pokemon and Zelda come out I don't see why it won't top it.

http://www.vgchartz.com/article/251290/3ds-vs-dsvgchartz-gap-chartsaugust-2013-update/

3DS Vs. DS Global:

Gap change in latest month: 1,300,190 - DS

Gap change over last 12 months: 10,228,561 - DS

Total Lead: 10,432,572 – DS

3DS Total Sales: 33,309,280

DS Total Sales: 43,741,852

Yeah the DS was cheaper but the 3DS had a pricecut and re-design much earlier in its lifetime.

Because that article is from more than a year ago, and the 3DS had a huge first holiday while the DS started off slow.  The 3DS is now behind the DS in all three major regions, and far behind worldwide.

Yoshida:

This guy is cryng because 3DS destroy Vita in japan.
