No one knows what the future holds for the industry but one day we may look back at Sony and the PS4 as the console that saved gaming. If Xbone had released and went on to be successful in it's first, DRM happy form, we all would have been screwed.

wow...  so sony makes a patent to can used games but all of a sudden watching the net cry babies tearing microsoft a new one they backed off.  you can guarantee if the babies would have been fine with it sony would have done the same.  why?  with drm they could've have came with a new pricing model.  think about it like this what if with the drm stuff you could have  bought a new game for $35 while ps4 games are $60?  yeah they would have done it alright.  so when you rub that crystal ball or call cleo theyll show  that the vocal minority was more responsible for delaying where the industry is headed.

i mean its like yall really hate the developers.

Do you have any evidence to back your claim that it was because of the backlash that microsoft had ? BTW you probably don't have any seeing as how sony made clear in feburary that they wouldn't put any restrictions on things such as check ins or used games. Oh and most of us hate crappy developers so their games deserve not to profit at all.

do you have any evidence that it wasnt?  watch this.  i'm not putting restrictions on used  games either.  see how a mouth can say anything?  when did they make it clear lol.  if it would have been all that clear the e3 hoopla over it wouldve been meh.  even neoGAF made a stupid #NODRM at sony and they are a bunch of know it alls.  sony was never clear on it until e3.  the only reason microsoft got so much flack was because the #dealwithit idiot piss people off and it was downhill from there.

Epic fail LOL. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-21-sony-tells-eurogamer-playstation-4-will-not-block-used-games

Sony made it clear and god damn cut months before the E3. So how did it turn out with Adam Orth spilling the beans ?

Edit: Soo much for your claim of sony doing DRM, but what goes around must come around but this time it hit microsoft and hard LOL.

Edit 2: Guess you don't have anything to add, well that will keep you shut for spouting something extremely ignorant and with a weak basis for evidence also.

I always imagine people like you in a different world. A world where steam crashed and burned because of people's initial complaints, and so older PC games had to be bought digitally from their specific publishers, and not for drastically reduced prices. And the ignorant masses would be triumphing over how Steam would have screwed everyone, but EA saved gaming.

Guess what? a disc is a DRM of sorts. You step on it, you scratch it, you lose it, and your game, and all it's value, is gone. For anyone like me, who never sells back used games, and has reliable internet, Microsoft's plan was leaps and bounds better in every conceivable way. Game sharing would have enabled my friends and I to play the same games, without buying multiple copies, and if we played split screen games over each other's houses, we would never have even needed to think about bringing discs to other people's houses. Plans change at the last minute, end up over a random friends house? You automatically would have access to the games library of every person, due to their xbox live account, and every game being on the cloud. Sounds terrible, huh?

Here's the thing. Discs? Take care of them, and they will be there for your entire life. Those XBLA titles? They'll run fine until your HDD goes out (all HDDs WILL fail sooner or later with use) and then MS shuts down the servers to the 360 like they did the original Xbox. Then what? Where are all your games?

You're allowed to have your opinion. My opinion? That's not leaps and bounds better in every conceivable way. That's leaps and bounds worse in every conceivable way.

I wish it was more powerful all round. By the time next gen has finished smart phones will be as powerful as the the PS4

Oh cmon does anyone seriously beleive that tablets will match consoles on power and much less smartphones.

I do, Smart phones have nearly caught up to the PS3, and with the jump in graphics much smaller next gen there is a good chance they will catch up.

You cant be serious lol. No phone game looks as good as The Last of Us or God of War 3, maybe in 2020 they might finally catch up with PS3.

So being able to download games from the cloud, at all, is a bad thing?  Because that's what it being worse in every conceivable way means. If you genuinely can't see the potental advantages, in addition to what you didn't like, then I don't know what to tell you.

Aside from that, X1 games are going to be available on discs. you can have a disc and have your game loaded to the cloud. Also, bear in mind what the CLOUD is. You're picturing old servers, big dedicated computers with high maintenance, long term. The cloud is a vast amount of computing power which can be used for many different tasks. That means in 15 years, when the X1 platform has been sunsetted, they can simply leave the cloud usage available to the people still playing it, but shift the bulk of the processing power to newer tasks. The cloud makes it FAR more economical/viable to keep things like that on forever.

But the problem remains because you're relying on MS to play your games. If you buy a disc and take care of it, you are in total control over that game.

I guess if this was early 2000's, that would be true. Most games nowadays rely on online aspects for at least some of the experience. And as long as that's the case, you're at least somewhat reliant on someone's servers being functional, and having the internet. If you consider that a bad thing, fortunately, older game systems will still be around. If you want total control forever, no exceptions, take good care of your PS1/PS2
