R.I.P. Mr Yamauchi, your legacy will never be forgotten.
RIP. Thanks for all the memories I had with the NES. You will be missed legend :(
It's just that simple.
Despite making a lot of mistakes in his aging years as president, he brought Nintendo great success. He might have screwed up with the Virtual Boy. Sony CD add-on contract, N64 (you know hardware issues, cartridges etc), and possibly GameCube, he gave his pension to Nintendo as he felt if could've benefit it the comapny more than him. With the money he made with shares he had at Nintendo, he developed plans for a new facility that will focus on cancer treatments in.
He also said "[People who play RPGs are] depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games,"
Nevertheless his business model made Nintendo successful and rich.
As a 90s kid who grew up with your consoles, you have given me great memories. Thankyou...

RIP. My thoughts go out to his family.
Interestingly, I probably wouldn't be a gamer if it wasn't for him either. Though I suspect due to a vastly different reason to the majority of the people in this thread.
RIP Yamauchi. Thanks to you, Zelda and Mario were created, through Miyamoto, and it lighted up my childhood. I will have a thought for you this evening.
Yoshi's the best of the beasts.

would there even be anything to become a gamer on?
I guess that makes me the only one who thought Galaki's joke was funny? Putting a "JK" at the end of the sentence would ruin it and be quite "un-Galaki"-like. The situation arose and he seized it.
If one dark joke was enough to defile the death of a great man, I'd seriously question his greatness.
OT: Rest in piece, Hiroshi Yamauchi. You brought joy to hundreds of millions during your lifetime and, through your legacy, will keep bringing it to upcoming generations which is something that most can only dream to achieve.
An incredibly influential figure of the video game market. His legacy will live on.
Much respect.
