To put it simple... it's beacuse of him that you play video games today.
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing

And shepherds we shall be,
For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Research shows Video games help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot
This is the guy who was brave enough to take the step nobody wanted to, and put money into the US videogames industry after the crash, when all other investors kept warning that it was a tremendously foolish idea. Under his leadership, Nintendo singlehandedly rebuilt the industry from the ashes.
RIP Hirsohi. You have definitely left your mark on the world.

What a legend! RIP Yamauchi-san!
Perhaps the greatest man ever in video game history. I guess he and Shigeru Miyamoto has to battle it out when THAT sad day comes...
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
Ironic that he died at 85.
'85 is the year that Nintendo took over the videogame business FOR GOOD with the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Life is full of strange "coincidences" like these, isn't it?
Rest In Peace & Rise In Power Mr. Yamauchi.
Nintendo Power!
