Forums - Sony - Video Capture over HDMI on PS4 confirmed

I dont understand what you mean at all lol.

I was wondering if this means I can record PS4 games on a harddrive and/or record- transfer it to PC so I can edit the footage rather than edit it on the PS4 and share it via the share feature o.O.

That you can do with the Share feature.

The video capture over HDMI means you can get the HDMI cabe in PS4 and plug it into your PC video capture card and record and record like you want... there is no ecryptation (HDCP).

Today with PS3 you need to buy a expensive HDCP to converter the excrypted signal to can record in PC.

It more like that...

PS3 -- HDMI -- HDCP Decrypter -- PC
PS4 -- HDMI -- PC

HDCP Decrypter is expensive... something like that.

What? I thought this was known before.
Playing - no HDCP.
Bluray - HDCP.

Given that theres a million ways to dump a bluray now there seems to be little reason to hdcp bluray

Given we are talking about Sony here it will definitely have HDCP when playing Bluray. Same applies to MS.

Well because PS3 have HDCP for games... the sites started a rumor some weeks ago about PS4 have too.

I heard about it earlier in relation with Xbone allowing it, too.

I read the title wrong. Thought it meant, I can capture video onto the ps4 through the hdmi port. Which gave me a brain fart, because the ps4 doesn't have an hdmi in.

VGChartz♥♥♥♥♥FOREVER

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

?

To capture video via HDMI you need a HDMI out on the console... not in.

I heard that too but I can't find any news or confirmation... maybe some MS podcast.

That should unrustle some jimmies.

The only jimmies that were rustled were the ones looking to sling mud at Sony for anything they could find. This was the "sony will have the same restrictions as MS" thing all over again

Except that the Xbox One and Xbox 360 can both do video capture over HDMI with non-protected content.  In fact the HDMI capture devices that worked on the Xbox 360 will work on the Xbox One.  Which I'm sure is what Sony is allowing for the PS4.
