Definitely, but if you look at the stats and Sony would've launched with Microsoft, they had to catch up by like eight million consoles, so in fact if Sony had launched with Microsoft thats almost the amount they would be ahead by. Sony is launching with Microsoft this generation, which means not only does Microsoft not have the market 100% to themselves but they have to prove their value over a Sony brand console in America with a higher price at launch. Sonys clear advantages in the world are the exact reason why Microsoft is paying third party billions to make their console look better. Sony doesn't need to win a perception war with Microsoft, Microsoft needs that to beat Sony.

The PS4 hype that began in February was only because of MS and their blunders during their May reveal.

There is a recession on there is no doubt, and many younger people are affected, so that will have an impact... but the big thing here is that new consoles happened so long ago, so there is a lot of pent up demand. They should be able to do 2 million easily by the end of the year.. if the 1 million pre-orders is anywhere near correct.

If Sony can bring out a GTAV and a Last of Us next gen versions by May next year... I can just see it doing amazingly well next year. Thats before we take into account other things/games/Infamous etc.

Who cares if PS4 doesn't outsell Wii U by December 31st? It'll outsell it a few months after that anyways....not a big deal.

Care to elaborate with any reason. Mine is price and the fact that there is 2 retail games at launch that are new series that cannot be experienced anywhere else. Xbox has 1(possibly 2 if KI 3 is retail....and fighters arent that big of a genre). Its a hard sell to the masses. Even the hardcore gamers I know are waiting a while for the system, I see nothing of interest in either system except the Division(which I will likely get on PC). Anectodal evidence, but so is internet hype. PS3 is still releasing top tier exclusives and both systems are still getting big releases. I dont care about PS4 having a million preorders, Wii U had the same, and its a bomb ATM.

Wii was heavily supply constrained in 2006 and 2007. Nintendo didn't expect it to be nearly as successful as it was before launch.

Wii-u never had CLOSE to 1 million pre-orders, sony is well above 1, and will get over 2 million in pre-orders alone..............No one in the industry or anywhere is predicting that low a number. The wii-u sold 400,000 it's first wekk, never had close to that many pre-orders............Facts help.

There are also a lot mroe then 2 retail games for ps4. madden, BF4, watch dogs, Drive club, Knack, Killzone.....to name a few. Infamous early 2014. Killer instinct, is hardly a system seller

Again the only evidence is rpre-ordes, and the Ps4 is lining up the the biggest console launch..ever. You put way too much stock into launch titles...p[eople dont buy consoles just fro launch games that are hit or miss. It is sustained software over years that sells systems. Laucnh titles will be forgotten in a month,.
