The Wonderful 101 Shipments Were Extremely Small

The Wonderful 101 Shipments Were Extremely Small
PUBLISHED ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2013, BY ALEX PLANT 18POSTED IN NEWS, NINTENDO, SOFTWARE, WII U

The Wonderful 101 may be difficult to find at some local retailers. GameStop’s website indicates that the game is in “low stock” at most locations across the country, and anecdotal evidence – compounded by my own personal experience – suggests that general retailers like Walmart, Target, and others may not be carrying it at all.

This echoes the game’s launch situation in Japan, where reports indicated that a measly 30,000 copies were shipped out on launch day. I hope no one’s expecting this game to perform well.

It’s a bit sad to see Nintendo’s big new IP for Wii U’s launch year falling so flat so fast, but dem’s da breaks.

I want to buy during holiday!

I genuinely do not understand what is going on with this game.

Normally, if you fund a project, I'd imagine you'd want to advertise it a little and release a decent shipment.

I guess you have the option of funding it, not advertising it (instead trying to rely on word of mouth) and release a decent shipment and just see how it goes. If it bombs, it bombs, but there's a possibility it may take off.

But funding it only to ignore advertising and then release puny shipments of the game? I just don't get it. Kayima's tweets about the budget only confuse me further.

Ah well. Buy it while you can, USA. Buy two copies so you can sell one for a profit in the future!

I wish I still had access to game order forms. I would love to know if the distributors are giving it AA or A status.

though i don't have a wii u i'm gonna buy this game.

it is unique, interessting and has low shipment numbers= the value of this game should risee 3-4x in the next years.

...I guess the Platinum curse is only magnified by working with Nintendo? That and releasing at the same time as GTAV...you'd probably have better luck going up against the holiday season lineup if you're a small niche title like WF101.

...anyone know how big the production budget was?

This game should have come after the big titles, not before.
