Paying $129 for this is not very wise considering student, company and ebay discounts have Windows 8 Pro for 20-40 bucks.

You can buy full touch screen laptops with windows 8.1 for $349 so 129 seems a bit much.

Did they ever fix the destop in windows 8? I noticed they have a desktop screen but when i clicked on where the start menu was it was not the same as the past windows versions. Was this just an older version of win8 i tried at the store, or is the desktop still broken in 8.1?

They're still too stubborn to add a classic desktop.

Is it called an upgrade nowadays, though it was a service pack, aka big ass patch.

I still haven't configured mine right yet, certain files still launch a horrible metro app. If I'm on the desktop why does it keep insisting on opening metro apps for pictures, videos, pdf files, mail, music. Eventually I'll get them all with "open with, choose default program"

Easier to do it all right off the bat with the default programs menu...
