Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft’s Phil Spencer Hopes to Bring Gears of War to Xbox One, but it Depends on Epic Games

not sure if epic games could ever reach the quality of the first gears games without all the important guys who left.

and damn, they are the makers of the unreal engine 4 and have still not announced a next gen console game...many developers already switched to other engines or have an own now so they should really release something to show and not only smartphone games or tech-demos

I get the feeling Epic is working on a new ip.

Also is it just me or is it weird that he says Epic developed the series, even though the latest game was made by People Can Fly? If there is a next gen gears, you can bet your butt it's being made by them.

People Can Fly is Epic

epic might take there time to develop a new gears of war but I think they are developing a new ip but there are rumours that there is a new gears of war in works and it is going to take place in pendulum wars era it can be very intersting what epic has in store for us after fortnite and we still need to see some fortnite gameplay footage if anybody has seen any gameplay fooftage please post I am really intersted. Please post if anybody has seen soem gameplay gameplay footage.

agreed although i'll counter with "i'll bet fortnight comes to consoles".

I'd rather have a new Peggle game on Xbox One... I'm dead serious. Peggle is awesome.

I'd rather have a new IP, preverably not a shooter, but it probably would be.

If it is then I want a new Unreal Tournament.

What I really want is Unreal 3 based on the first rather than the second.

Much like God of War, Gears of War kinda ran its course in my opinion, give it a rest or do a cool spin off, like a RTS or RPG.
And, God of War, just stop.

I don't understand why people are judging both series by the latest sub-par prequels nobody wanted that were rushed to market to make a quick easy buck before the next generation consoles arrived. Also GeoW:J was made by a different developer and GoW:A focused more on the MP than the SP that made the series what it is. Even after all that GoW:A was still well-recieved at 80%+ and on track to sell over 2m this year and 3m+ lifetime, not a sign of a series that has to stop. Gears of War needs to be developed internally by Epic Games who know how to do it right and  the story has to find a compelling way to continue after GeoW3 then all will be well.

Do people so easily forget that both GoW & GeoW are Sony & MS 2nd biggest franchises and they were both consistently massively critically acclaimed before the latest prequels and both have many millions of fans. They don't need a rest or to stop, they just need more dev time, fresh ideas and to focus on what made them beloved series in the first place and then improve upon those elements even further.

I think and hope we'll have a new Gears of War & God of War by 2016.

You are right, if they can come back to their former glory, that would be amazing.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Epic said in 2011 they were working on a PC game, but MS wont let that happen. LOL

Thats because MS would hold them down being so dependent on the Gears franchise. The last Gears game was made by another third party compay contracted by Epic because they are working on a new IP and MS was desperate for a fourth Gears. MS needs to start contracting with an true official second party if they want to be dependent.
