Forums - Gaming - Whats wrong with parents? Eleven year old child in France gets GTA 5 and freaks out

The problem isn't French parents, it's French journalists who talk about this game all day long like it were the game of the decade.

I never singled out the french, but it just so happened to be in france. You're right about the media though, but then again GTA is an exciting franchise. The internet doesn't bar kids from reading the articles nor watching videos. The sites put up the age requirements so kids cannot get access to specific videos they shouldn't be seeing so they legally dont get into trouble, but guess what.....its the kids who in their desperation will lie.

I love all these 'i played these sorts of games at their age' arguments thinking it's even a perfectly viable argument.

So do ant of you people condemning these parents actually have kids?

What does that have to do with desensitization?

Perhaps the internet has desensitized people into thinking their opinion matters or holds any water.

Clever girl.....wrong again. I believe you have the intelligence to have figured out how the internet came about and its value in closing gaps on communication and the sharing and viewing of information. There will always be outspoken people, you kind of cannot stop that. The internet just gave them an outlet and you're one of them. Theres no desensitization process involved in that. Most people in the civilized world knew how to type up a letter and send it to people before the internet or even the computer was created.

Yep, its pretty funny. Many people are having a hard time telling the difference between desensitization and depth perception. They are arguing the typical arguments they hear the non-gamers complaining about the gaming industry on the television. Non-gamer psychologists cannot speak on a subject they don't involve themselves in or at least spend a long time studying the effects of.

expected, GTA is the biggest casual game (From a third party)...  nowdays it seems like been a good parent only means like the facebook protect our children random post...

Not its not. GTA has a learning curve that of a moderate gamer. If you're an moderately experienced gamer the complete learning curve is generally about 10-15 minutes for the typcial GTA and for casuals its like 30-45.

So thats the grey line between a casual gamers and a "moderate" gamer... Learning curve really? Shooting and bad driving does not require that much of skill IMO...

Oh, it's the PS3 version, i like the little guy, look how happy he is.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

As long as the parents bought it for him then I can't be mad.
