Forums - Gaming - Driveclub: Amazing new footage

looks good and much better as at e3. but i wonder when i will see a real race with other cars and not only time trial (if someone has a gameplay video would be nice to give me a link) and i would still prefer 60fps even if the game would look worse then.

about the forza discussion which is in every driveclub thread (not even sure why since almost everyone talking about it will only buy an xbox or ps4), forza will have less calculations for something like the lighting but therefore probably many more calculations for the physics on the cars. stuff like damage on the brakes or suspension or calculations for all the parts you can tune.

i don't really think that one game is really more impressive as the other from a technical perspective.

It is certainly looking nicer and will definitely be in a good place once the AA has been sorted. Biggest problem with Forza at the moment is that it looks nice, but doesnt actually look much above and beyond Forza on the 360 (admittedly the 360 version was already very good)... but Forza's biggest downfall right now is that it has very little going on off track. You could question how much off track stuff you need when driving around at speed, but Driveclub's environments have more things happening.

I hope you can switch off all the social aspect stuff as I am not a fan of that.

It's finally starting to look like a proper Next Gen game.

Agreed! Was starting to get a little worried about this one but those graphics are nearing Forza.

Not to turn this into something it shouldn't be, but I'd argue it already surpassed Forza 5. Never mind all of things it's doing on a technical level that Forza isn't. The cars look great, arguably better than DriveClub's (albeit, a bit too shiny, though), but its backgrounds and lighting don't look very "next gen", to me, and are certainly a step behind DriveClub's.

I completely agree on the technical level and lighting, however Forza still looks a little more polished ,imo but as the dev's stated they are adding more each day so it could very well surpass Forza's graphics in the end.

I still disagree. Only the cars in Forza look a little more "finished", but environmentally, DriveClub looks more rich and complete.

For this track I completely agree with you, it looks amazing. For the the previous tracks they demoed, I would have to say Forza imo looked better.

I thought dynamic weather would be ready for launch. Oops. Well, at least it'll be there at some point, but that's icing when you think about everything already going into it.

I'm curious about what you think of them hitting 60fps.  Do you think it's at all possible with all the dynamic lighting, advance ambient occlusion, etc. they are doing?  Since they say they are targeting 60fps it sounds like they are maybe at least hitting well above 30fps to keep saying that.

Not by much, but I think it looks better than Forza. The environmental effects and cars look more realistic in Drive Club, while the foliage on Forza looks a bit better in my opinion. I think the building models in both games could look much better. I'll stick with the free PS+ edition. Doesn't really take too long before I lose interest in a driving game.

Since I play driving games on automatic, I'll probably enjoy Drive Club better as well.  I can play Gran Turismo and drift really well using manual, but I can't race well while doing 900 different things at once, dropping down to second gear coming around a turn going 60, then immediately putting it back to third or so while I'm coming out of the turn to not overturn.  Using manual you constantly have to think about what gear your in and you're constantly down shifting and upshifting when making turns.  Never having drove a manual more than once in real life and always choosing automatic because I never wanted to get the hang of doing manual in games.  I'm fairly good at racing games, but I screwed myself over by taking the easy way since you can't drift well with automatic since you can't change the gear.  Maybe on Drive Club you can drive a little bit with automatic since it's not supposed to be entirely realistic.

I just hope we can get a list of wheels that will be compatible with ps4 and this game by release. Really wanting to get one for the game and not the thrustmaster one that doesn't have force feedback or shifter.

that's the "problem" of real race tracks. you can't just put some nice stuff around the track to let the environment look better in a racing sim if it isn't there in real life. laguna seca as example just doesn't have much more than sand and some stands

Looks impressive. apart from the aliasing. DAT lighting looks so nextgen tho.

The developers are working on that at the moment and evidly some other little things that are caused by the missing smoke effects from the tires.

Yeah I noticed that too. They should all be ready at launch.

That's what's clear to me too.  It seems Forza is cutting features left and right to be ready at launch.   They seem to have no where near the customization or fun level Drive club, or even previous Forzas had...

Damn, this game is looking more impressive by the day. So much for not matching up to Forza.
