Actually, to most PC gamers, ps3 and xbox has nothing to offer them, as they already have high definition graphics and great online playing. However, the Wii controls are novel, which made many of them look for a console for the first time.

| naznatips said: If you look at the Wii owners on this site, a very good portion of them are PC gamers. Some of these Wii owners are myself, Ben, Avalach, Sqrl, bodhesatva, Neos, NJ5, makingmusic, and of course you Entroper. If you think it through, the reasoning is pretty sound. We, as PC gamers, already have the single most graphically powerful system in existence. We also will always get top of the line physics and AI long before they hit consoles. Because of this, the main appeals of the PS3 and 360 do not apply to us very much. Of course, there is also a genre focus issue. The PS3 and 360 are both currently very FPS focused. Please don't take that as me saying that's all that's on the systems. I'm not. I'm just saying it's the focus of the systems. We get the great FPS games, but with kb&m controls, and most PC gamers have no desire to play FPS games with dual analog. So this conflict of genres also tends to push PC gamers away from the HD consoles. The reason I (and I'm sure many other PC gamers) are attracted to the Wii is that it's the only console that really offers an experience that we can't get anywhere else. With the PS3 and 360 a lot of PC gamers feel they would just be buying a shooterbox with worse controls, but the Wii actually offers software that simply cannot be reproduced on the PC. I don't think this perception is completely accurate, as a few things like JRPGs you certainly won't find on the PCs, but those games never sold to PC gamers before anyway. What is selling to the PC gamers is the idea of something completely NEW in console gaming, and it's something a lot of PC gamers like myself have been waiting for for years. |

Yep, those are the type of games I expect from a PC gamer. I always thought you were more of an adventure game/RPG/Platformer guy like myself.

I'm an everything gamer. I play Half-life 2 and then pop in Harvest Moon. I play Super Mario Galaxy then have some fun playing Wii Sports with my friends. I'll start up a new file of Final Fantasy IX only hours before trying to save Hyrule from Ganon for the billionth time in Twilight Princess. I play everything. I'm a gamer, and I appreciate games of many genres and styles.
That said, the 3 genres you just mentioned are my 3 favorite console game genres.

Wow, it must be awesome being such an open minded gamer. You have so much you can enjoy. I personaly have a hard time adapting to new things. For example, I hate when RPG's aren't turn-based. It also took me quite a bit of time before I was able to open up to online gaming.

You and I have very similar tastes in games. That's probably why I think you hit the nail on the head in your first response to this thread.
If I could edit the title of this thread, I would add "(or at least PC gamers are)".
