I normally intend to play all the games I buy immediately. It's just that some games end up being not as much fun as I hoped when I purchased, or they take a bit to get started. Those games end up taking me a long time to eventually beat, or play for that matter. If I buy a game and it doesn't end up being fun after a while of gameplay, I generally sell it away or keep it as a backlog to try again later if it shows promise.

i'm backlogged because i'm broke, and cheap. yea i'm about 3 yr's backlogged.

I like a lot of games, but also have other hobbies. I no longer want to game all the time to beat all games as they come out. There are a lot of gems.

I collect and with over 600 retail games, there are times I'm going to want to play a game I've played once, twice, or several times in the past. If it's a game I'm not really a fan of and I'm not going to be interested in playing it in the future, then it's a game I won't keep in my collection, but if it's something that I've enjoyed enough to see myself playing it sometime in the future, even if it's an average experience, then I'll keep it.

The problem with going back to old games are new games are coming out, older new games are dropping in price and at $20, if I'm interested in them I'll pick them up, and there's only a limited amount of time to play so many games.

There's also the very rare newer game that takes priority There was a deal at Gamestop so I traded in Mario Kart 7 and MLB13 The Show to purchase Xillia at $9.99(going to purchase MLB13 The Show once I can get it later for $10 or less. However I still haven't touched Xillia because I know it'll take me some time to finish and Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming out soon. GTA5 is going to take priority over anything else. Lords of Shadow was my favorite game this gen and Lords of Shadow 2 is getting priority once it releases as well.

Sadly, more and more interesting games come out and even past gen games get in my backlog. The same might happen to some current gen titles.

I'm not a fan of paying for digital that isn't dirt cheap, so as we get more and more digital titles and I infrequently make digital purchases, this backlog will eventually whittle down.

I have a backlog because there are more interesting games than I have time for.

I don't think a backlog is only games you purchased, if you can borrow or buy them in the future, but you want to play, they are in your backlog. It's like a list of shit to do when I have nothing to do.

By the time I clear my backlog, news games will be there. That's why I'm only buying a PS4 when I don't have a backlog anymore. Might take a while though, because I can still play most third party games on my PC. :(

I often grab cheaper games on a gamble and sometimes I'm not to keen on them...so off they go to the backlog.

Theres also things like PS plus.

Cause we like to pretend we are "hardcore" ..claiming to be one by buying a lot of games.. If we also played them all we would have no normal life

I am preparing for the end of video gaming on physical media and outright ownership of games.

That way I will have a backlog big enough to last me till the end of my life.

Plus when I have kids I'll have more time to play video games with them lol.
