Sorry to hear about your crippling terminal lack of judgement. Cyberconnect is probably one of the best japanese devs at handling anime and they prove it with their Naruto series and the newest JoJos Bizarre Adventure game. They also have much better mechanics than the Ubisoft game.

Nah, the Ubisoft games were better.

The open world aspect of the Ubisoft games shits all over the "open" world aspect of the cyberconnect games.

I'm not calling the Cyberconnect games bad, just milked, familiar, and "safe" and not better than the game the Western Devs made with the same IP.

It seems the only thing they had going for them is being open world, despite significantly worse games as a whole. By the same account you can say they are better than any fighting game ever because those aren't open world either. And really let's be honest, they are 3D fighting games at heart, everything else is less important.

Where it really shows they are lacking is on the online component, which is clearly inferior to the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, which is also their appeal. They have evolved to have much better mechanics and also much more content (80 playable characters versus 30 of Broken Bond). Whereas, I would have stopped playing Rise of a Ninja or Broken Bond after 12-15 hours, I have put over 30 hours in ultimate Ninja Storm 3 because online is so good. The only thing I will agree is that they release the games too frequently with few changes in between. But in the end, I'm glad the franchise went back to CyberConnect

Nah, I preffered the combat in rise of a ninja as well, like I said in the OP I loved how pulling off jutsus felt rewarding and I preffer 2.5D fighters over 3D ones.

Well, then you need to to talk to someone, also evident from the rest of the replies in this thread.

Are you seriously implying that I have psychological issues because my opinion differs from yours? Wow, just wow.

Just some food for thought here, Rise of a Ninja and the Broken Bond(the ubisoft) games both have higher metacritic scores than ANY entry in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, user score included, but I guess all those people are crazy as well, right?

Honestly I'm appaled you'd resort to personal attacks over a manner like this, I should report you but I'm above that. I just won't be responding to anymore of your nonsense from now on pal.

Around the Network

As a huge Naruto AND fighting game fan I would really love to know where you guys are finding this amazing and complex "game mechanics" in the Storm games. I played Storm 2 and Storm 3 and they have some of the MOST shallow and watered down fighting game mechanics. I've played a lot of fighting games and comparing the Storm series to ones like Blazblue/King of Fighters/Persona 4 Arena/Soul Calibur/Tekken/Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat and even the DBZ games, like Budokai Tenkaichi 3 or Raging Blast 2, Naruto Storm 3 has almost NO complexity to offer whatsoever. It is through and through a button masher. The sole selling point of the game is the ability to use flashy techniques from the series in the cinematic story mode boss battles (which are just amazing unlike any other game) and in the versus battle. It's a VERY simple, yet faithfully recreated beautiful to look at anime fighting game clearly not targeted to be anything complex, and that is fine if the target audience is okay with it. But it should be treated as such as well.

That said I did play Broken Bond on my 360 and it doesn't by any means have amazing fighting mechanics either. The mini-games you have to do to land the ultimate moves were just silly in my opinion. The one to land Neji's 64 Palms made me laugh every time for some reason because of how the other guy would try to escape your hits. But I did like the open world aspects to it. It was kind of cool to be able to explore the Naruto world and interact with it, kind of like how you could in Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 back in PS2. I personally much prefer CC's Naruto offerings on PS2, which had even more flashier moves (why not go all out) and much more open world aspects. At the very least I would say that both the PS3 and 360 offerings are better than the Clash on the Ninja offerings on Wii. Those games were okay, but FAR less in scope than the HD offerings. Plus I think the Naruto games actually gained a lot from the upgraded cell shaded visuals.
