Forums - Gaming - Cyberconnect sucks ass

You obviously had unjustified expectations and were thus disappointed.

CyberConnect2 has been making Naruto games for the past 10 years and none of them had strong story modes. They always mostly focused on the combat mode and that's why it's more complex and deeper than any of the Ubisoft Naruto games.

I would love it if the story mode was more like the Ubisoft games but not at the expense of gameplay.

Are you seriously trying to complain that it's harder to follow the story of the Cyber Connect games for non Naturo fans? Well duh. Rise of a Ninja takes place at the very beginning of the series. Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 takes place in the middle of Shippuuden like 400 episodes later. Unless you expect them to start from the beginning for every game, of course the later ones will be harder to follow.

At any rate Clash of Ninja is better than either of them.

Yeah I liked Clash of Ninja on the Wii. Though I feel like most of the fun came from its multiplayer mode. I haven't played the game alone.

Was comparing Ultimate Ninja Storm to Rise of a Ninja, both start at the beginning of the story.

Thing is, the open world aspect, the platforming, the story telling, and the jutsu system in Rise of a Ninja is what makes it way ahead of the Ninja Storm series.

Cyberconnect has been making these games for 10 years and Ubisoft made a better use of the IP on their first try. That says something.

Sorry to hear about your crippling terminal lack of judgement. Cyberconnect is probably one of the best japanese devs at handling anime and they prove it with their Naruto series and the newest JoJos Bizarre Adventure game. They also have much better mechanics than the Ubisoft game.

Nah, the Ubisoft games were better.

The open world aspect of the Ubisoft games shits all over the "open" world aspect of the cyberconnect games.

I'm not calling the Cyberconnect games bad, just milked, familiar, and "safe" and not better than the game the Western Devs made with the same IP.

It seems the only thing they had going for them is being open world, despite significantly worse games as a whole. By the same account you can say they are better than any fighting game ever because those aren't open world either. And really let's be honest, they are 3D fighting games at heart, everything else is less important.

Where it really shows they are lacking is on the online component, which is clearly inferior to the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, which is also their appeal. They have evolved to have much better mechanics and also much more content (80 playable characters versus 30 of Broken Bond). Whereas, I would have stopped playing Rise of a Ninja or Broken Bond after 12-15 hours, I have put over 30 hours in ultimate Ninja Storm 3 because online is so good. The only thing I will agree is that they release the games too frequently with few changes in between. But in the end, I'm glad the franchise went back to CyberConnect.

I assumed that you were talking about UNS3 since that came out recently.  My bad.  At any rate, while I liked the story mode on Rise of a Ninja, I didn't like combat at all.  Activating Jutsus really just disrupted the flow of the game too much.  I actually really didn't like the combat mode in UNS3 either.  Too limited in your options.

The single player mode is nothing to write home about.  Just kind of going through fights from the story one by one with some very simplistic story sequences.  The combat is very good though.  Unlike UNS3 where every character feels the same like Budokai 3, the characters are unique and the system as a whole is better.

Nah, I preffered the combat in rise of a ninja as well, like I said in the OP I loved how pulling off jutsus felt rewarding and I preffer 2.5D fighters over 3D ones.

Well, then you need to to talk to someone, also evident from the rest of the replies in this thread.

The Ultimate Ninja Storm series isn't about its sandbox mode (that part actually gets worse with every new entry). It's about its solid combat gameplay. I like it because it doesn't have traditional 2D or 2.5D fighting mechanics and instead gives a lot more freedom.

Unfortunately, even the combat is dropping in quality. I wish they would go back to how it was in the first one.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Agreed. Loved the Clash of Ninja games on GC. I was mindblown when I borrowed a Japanese imported copy of Clash of Ninja 4 for GC because it had a huge roster and went far into the manga at the time. The fighting mechanics in Clash of Ninja are much better. The UNS games feel a little bit too button mashy. At least they are really nice games to look at.

Lol.  Didn't even know there was a CON4.  The Revolution ones for the Wii are good.  Disappointed they never went farther into the series.
