Forums - Gaming - Apple's Low-Cost iPhone 5C Officially Announced

Tagged games:

Yeah, not really low-cost at all. They have a few tweaks over the 5, but the major feature really is just added colour.

Reportedly, Apple has finally secured a deal with China Mobile and NTT DoCoMo, so I guess they're counting on one last surge of distribution to drive volumes up this year. Price competition can wait for another day.

Is it weird that I'm wondering why Apple don't just keep last year's iPhone 5 as a 'budget option' phone...? Isn't that the way they always did things; release a new high-end phone, and keep selling the previous model alongside it at a cheaper price? I'm confused. :s

Yes, you can. And that what I meant when I said $550.

iPhone 5s

16GB - $650
32GB - $750
64GB - $850

iPhone 5c

16GB - $550
32GB - $650

Oh I didnt know you can buy it without a contract in other countries but damn that is MAD expensive lol.

you pay the same with your contract. what do you pay per months for your contract? the thing is that maybe 20 dollar of that monthly fee are a part of the iphone.

in europe you can also get the iphone of 99 or 199 bucks but you also have to pay for a contract then. but instead of that you can buy the phone for 599 and get a seperate contract or prepaid card which is then 20 bucks cheaper per month

in the end you pay also 600 bucks for your iphone in usa but the costs are hidden in your contract. in the end people pay 600 bucks for something which costs 150 to produce. the rest is marketing and profit.

and before someone starts to calcualte what i said, that are just some numbers to show how it works and they are not 100% correct.

Is this some kind of a joke?

it's pretty much an iPhone 5 made of colourful plastic, selling at the same price (or higher) than iPhone 5 is selling at now

I mean, people were expecting Apple to announce a low cost iPhone. This most definitely is not that. And this won't compete with Samsung either.

This fails to achieve two things: It's neither cheap NOR new or innovative in any way.

what happened with your ubuntu phone? stopped following it after a week or so.

Iphone 5c and 5s will be available with unlimited talk text and data and NO CONTRACT from T mobile in the U.S by the way, this will probably steal a lot of market share from ATT/VERIZON

the iphone 5c is a plastic iphone 5, it probably costs them less creating the 5c and selling that for $99 instead of the original iphone 5

I bet those cost about $50/each to produce. At most.

That makes sense. Then again, they're not really selling it for $99, as that's with a 2-year contract. Standalone the cheapest version's $549 (!)  'O_o

;O You do what you gotta do to survive lol. Actually I needed a smartphone anyway, or at least it's a lot more fun when you're roaming the hospital and have some cool medical apps you can look through quickly if you need to know something

you should buy a laptop so that you can play surgery simulator 2013 if you don't know what to do with the patient.
