You sure about that? I'm not exactly an expert on these things, but I would say designing and shipping a whole new model can get pretty expensive.

Not really considering DS lite sales in NA and others, better to wait until demand dies a bit more than release and get a lot of repeat buyers
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

unlikely, DS lite sales are too strong in NA and Others for that to happen, for at least a year or two, a redesign would kill most of the desire for a DS lite

If it was that thin, would it be comfortable to hold?
no redesign this year, probably not 2009 either, if nintendo want DS to go to 2011-12 then i would say a redesign could hit 2010, DS Micro perhaps. I'm sure that thinner screens, smaller components and removal of GBA Slot could allow DS's bulk to be trimmed
The redesign is done and signed off.
Nintendo are just waiting for the right moment to press the button.

Well I was assuming that a pricecut and new model will be released at some point in its life. To do a redesign and sell millions of units at the current price would be more profitable than doing a price cut and then later doing a redesign and selling millions of units at a lower price.
Thats my reasoning at least.

they prolly too. They just waiting for the current one to fail until they show us. Which is un-likly

The design isn't ready or finalized. I doubt it. A lot could happen in terms of technological advances and smaller things and all that whatnot. They would rather see a decline in sales, THEN think of a redesign.
"I dont expect another remodeled DS till nintendo's new handheld/phone hits the market" - weezy
Nintendo will never release a phone lol.
I want a new gameboy... not another ds design that now has 4 year old handheld graphics
