Doesn't seem to be many roads. The scale seems completely off in the GTAIV comparison.

Nah, it's pretty accurate. Look at the width of the motorways and the size of the airports.

very dissapointing.

just one city, instead of 3 different parts like in san andreas.
not very big:considering the harbour in the south as size refference it seems to be smaller than san andreas(except the harbour is extremly huge)
i really hope that there is another city in the north and some smaller ones all around the map.

There isn't another city in the north, it's LA and some small towns, and the map is at least three times bigger than san andreas.

Kind of looks ... small?

Guess it is not blowing me away or anything. Still looking forward to it though. Is this the whole thing, or just one part?

It's definitely massive, at least 3 times bigger than San Andreas, or 5 times bigger than IV. It's hard to really comprehend the scale of it all looking at the map.

Some screenshots to help put it in perspective:

Oh ... ok that makes it look much much larger. I have been avoiding a lot of the videos/screenshots for this game. I'm sure it will be massive, but that map just makes it look small I guess.

Looks massive, one more week till it's out

Looks like they've really oversimplified the city judging from number of roads, if that GTAIV map overlay is accurate in size..

If you zoom in or look closely you'll see loads of little roads and alleys, I'm seeing loads of detail around venice beach and vinewood. Beverly hills is huge.

The map looks small on paper, but its gonna be GIGANTIC when we see the real thing for ourselves

And that is exactly the big problem.

San Andreas was big, but you always had the motivation to cruise around as you was rewarded by a completely different city(vegas, francisco,la)

this thing is supposed to be bigger than san andreas and has nothing to offer. you have only one city.imo this is very dissapointing.

A city with just half a dozen vertical streets from west to east and the rest is mountain and trees an some valleys noone gives a shit about?-

i rellay hope that's not all what they have coded in 5 1/2years and spent 1/4 billion for.imo a bigger dissapointment than the new dmc-dante design=worser than shit.

Either they have found a way to make the exploration of the rural areas very interessting(than i'll bow down and beg for forgivness) or this will end as:play the missions and then throw the game away .

maybe i'll change my mind tommorrow but right now i'd say the game looks like it was designed by a civil searvant or maket analyst with zero sense for creativity and zero interesst in gaming(mountain in the north, lake in the middle, city in the east-omg.maybe This kind of design was impressiv in the first five days after the invention of videogames)
