Why can't Nintendo die? Are they some sort of immortal company or what? Any company can die. Doesn't matter if they were around for a thousand years.

Money in the bank means nothing if customers aren't buying your products. Money in the bank don't raise your stock. As some American business person whose name I can't recall once said "sometimes in business it's better to keep the money, die and reborn than waste it trying to live"

However I don't see Nintendo dying anytime soon. As things stand they need a complete rethink of their situation because the plan they had in mind don't seem to be working very well.

Success and failure is all about decisions and Nintendo have some tough ones to make.

The Nintendo of the future may not manufacture hardware but Mario, Zelda, pokemon and their other games can live on any system so Nintendo will live on... at least as long as the public don't get fed up with Mario and Zelda in 20 years or so years.

This thread should be named "the day Nintendo gets out of the console business", because it will be down right stupid of them to just let your company die rather than continue and make money(which they will)by making software for other rival consoles.....Im pretty sure their will be no difference in playing Mario on a ps4 or Xbox one rather than Wii u!

I think their upcoming system will use cartridges, they have no chance against Sony !
I can´t wait to play Mario 64 on my PS !

That has been said of the DS, Wii and 3DS.  There are people fighting for Sony. Doom articles before the Wii U release, and just before the other consoles launch.  Nintendo just keep moving along turning a eye.

they have over a trillion yen in the bank and it keeps rising sooo....

Having money doesn't mean they are willing to waste it.

I don't see Ninny just disappearing.... All their franchises would be sold or they would keep making software... I don't really see a huge impact on the industry. When SEGA dropped out Microsoft took its spot.

With all the gloom and doom it seems that Nintendo is crashing down, or so people say. The pressure from smartphones and tablets are said to be the final nail in the coffin for Nintendo's handheld. Also the Wii U is doing very bad...

So when is this going to happen? When is is that Nintendo will die for good? And what would you doo if it was true?

Personally I wouldn't spend as much money on gaming... I would slowly quit gaming forever.

With $14ish Billion in cash assets, they'll be around for a good long time even if the Wii U doesn't sell another system (which it will...maybe even two).  Now, Sony had to sell their two largest office buildings to get the cash needed to launch the PS4.  If things don't pick up for them, they'll be on the chopping block sooner than Nintendo.  As for Microsoft, they still have not made money on the Xbox division.  Makes you wonder how long they're willing to continue?!?

WHAT?!

It's THAT BAD for Sony?!?!?
I just checked online to make sure this was true.

Had no idea they had to do all this!
It's VERY bad for Sony right now.

I knew they needed PS4 to be a hit but now I REALLY know that the PS4 can't fail for Sony.
They sold their New York HQ & their Sony City Osaki office in Tokyo...
...Damn. It's getting bad.

Maybe I was too hasty saying Microsoft would be first to drop out.
It can go either way at this point.

It's that bad but you never hear of it.  You will hear more and more Nintendo doom articles as if the big N was selling buildings.

Are you aware the 3DS/2DS sales will reach 50 millions units in a few months? Nintendo won't leave this market anytime soon.

I'll keep my games and replay them. Maybe will get a PC for games like Amnesia or RE.
Sony/Microsoft games don't appeal to me.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

If they phase out of console business, I hope they join MS/Xbox to fight the dark side of Nippon.

the day nintendo dies is the day gaming dies. nintendo wont ever die as long as there is gaming. they can only qiut the console and handheld bussines.
