Some perspective, they made $310 million from GTA IV on its first day on sale. This is a safe bet.

That's just revenue though, they will get about half of that back.... They still made tons of money though!
I didn't expect it to cost so much. (i though it cost around $120 million) but it don't matter it should break even in a matter of hours after it comes out. I can't wait.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030
it need to sell 10mil to break even?

Were did they get that number from. Unless rockstar confirms this number,It's all speculation. All parties involved will make there money back in time, regardless of the number.

more than what GTA V will even dream to make, ever.
| elazz said: I don't know if this is true. First of all Avatar was a much bigger project than Pirates of the Carribean 4. Especially when counting marketing costs as well. The only plausible reason is perhaps that they needed first a lot of licenses for music, more voice actors than usual and motion capturing. However if this amount is true than that means we're going to see a lot of advertising everywhere on this world and perhaps the costs of a PC/next-gen versions are included. |
The op is completely off base with budget comparisons to movies.
Most big budget movies have $100-$150 million advertising budgets alone. Production budgets on them are often $150 -250 million.
Besides that, thats a shitload of money being spent on that game.

It printed so much money, I bet it was way above what Nintendo ever projected too!
$265m! That is scary! It'll more than recoup the entire cost in 2013 though. I think I'll hold out for a "next gen" version or a better PC.
