Forums - Gaming - Why is it said that PS4 is primarily concerned with indies?

What would you market as their flagship? Anything they do with the Move or the Eye will be compared to Microsoft and Nintendo. Their big shooter is already being compared to Halo. Drive Club vs Forza. Blu-ray isn't there exclusive.

They don't have a TitanFall. The most buzzed about game in years. Many other games are multi plat. And we are not going to see the differences in how they run for a while yet. (Not that I think that will be good news for them.) Knack, which might be fun, people dismiss as a kids game.

They could show why the touchpad on the PS4 controller is essential.

Back to my first question, what would you run as the lead 'Only on the PS4' game if you were in charge of advertising?

As far as launch titles are concerned, that would be Killzone. Sure it's not the strongest franchise in history, but with enough marketing showing how the game stands out among others in a very saturated genre, it could easily have the potential to be a good system seller at launch, and easily put the franchise in a better position.

As for Titanfall, I think it's pretty already been settled that the game is coming to PS4 eventually, seeing as there is already high demand for a PS4 version, and M$ has 0 ownership over the franchise. If it turns out popular, and the PS4 sells like hotcakes, nothing will stop EA from porting it over, as long it makes them the money.

As for the rest of your comment, I can easily counter all of your criticisms of PS4 with a single statement: What exactly does 360 have? So you're getting Ryse? Ok, I'll just throw out God of War (we know the PS4 will get one), or SSM's new IP, or even Deep Down. Forza? Well you already Driveclub, and GT7 is coming to PS4 in 2014. Dead Rising? Probably another timed exclusive, as it's made by a money grubbing company, and once again M$ has 0 ownership over the title. Killer Instinct? I don't know what's worse: a F2P fighter that starts you off with only 8 characters & 2 levels (forcing you to pay for the rest via future DLC), or no fighter at all. I think that's about it.

PS4 still has Knack, then of course The Order & Infamous in the near future, followed by Naughty Dog's next title, SSM's new IP, GG's new IP, MM's new IP, GT7, Deep Down, Quantic Dream's next title, what SJS is working on, and so on.

There's what puts PS4 ahead of XBone. It already has longevity. It already has titles in place for the next 2 years for people to look foward to, and that list is only only going to grow. Where is the XBone in that regard?

Around the Network

To me, their AAA first party looks better, and the indie games are just another differentiating point. Cheaper, more powerful, best first party, best digital indies. What else can you want?

Because Sony are the only 1 of the 3 allowing indies to be front and center along with all the AAA games. There are way more indie devs than AAA devs they just dont have the money to do there own marketing. Sony is giving them the stage presence and opportunity they deserve.

Because of this Indie or Not expect PS4 to have way more games than the other two at least for the next year till MS get there new program up to speed.

The reason is obvious. AA games are dead. The industry is going to be alot of indie games with some AAA titles thrown in. So if you have the most indie games, you have the biggest and best library.

Actually, you only answer it once with "Daylight/Outlast."  It was a genuine question.

The other was a multi plat.

To answer your question, pretty much everything.  The Controller is a generation better, the Kinect is probably two generations better that what Sony will do with the PS4 eye (speculation).  The interaction and convenience of the current Xbox 360 is a generation ahead of it's contemporaries, and the Xbox One just sets a new basline well above that.

Ryse has my attention.  It looks to be a great game.  I could see myself spending hours thoroughly enjoying that game.  And there is only One place to play it.

There are many other games too, but they are coming out later, and would not qualify for your criteria.

Note: Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V are not Net Gen games.  While Last of Us has gather great reviews and excellent word of mouth.  It's sales at only 3.14 million, hardly revolutionary. Even Sports Champions sold more.

"The most buzzed about game in years" does not suggest next gen titles.  While TLoU sales are only that, it'll sell a lot more.  A lot of the bolded is kinda just opinion.  Meaning "a generation", what exactly does that mean?  So, why is Ryse an acceptable answer, but Killzone isn't?

There are one too many flaws in his logic, but it's also his opinion. He likes Ryse more than Infamous. That's absolutely fine and he is entitiled to that opinion. Now arguing that things he haven't even tried are a generation better than other things he hasn't tried, well, that's when I know there's no room for a fruitful discussion and I leave.

Except you haven't been following me or perhaps do not know.  I have played with the new Xbox One controller and some other stuff.

Although, to be honest I haven't played with the PS4 Eye, that is why I am open about speculating it is not going to be a as good as Kinect 2.0.  My good friend has move.  I'm the only that has ever used it - even had to take it out of the plastic.

If somehow the PS4 Eye is better than Kinect 2.0 I will happily admit it; however, I think Tom Arnold has a better chance of marrying Portia de Rossi.

But, hey, life is full of surprises.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
