So WayForward is turning to Kickstarter to fund the very first HD Shantae game. It's already confirmed for Wii U, PS3, PS4, 360, Xbox One, and Steam, with a Vita version being looked into. On one hand, I love me some Shantae. On the other hand... Kickstarter. On a metaphorical third hand, WayForward has never let me down.

The lack of Shantae love on this board disappoints me. I'm guessing the Nintendo crowd wants Shantae all to themselves, amirite?

    Hi friends! Since there were a lot of comments regarding skin tone, we lined up all the Shantae artwork from past games, and the skin tones are all over the board. We've always left this to artist discretion in the past. However, this new artwork does stand out as the lightest she's been since back in the GBC days, so I'm sure we'll adjust it once we have our character lineup established. This is a great example of Kickstarter comments shaping the eventual product, so please make your opinions heard!

Loved Risky's Revenge. Haven't really been able to get into the original, yet. Shantae isn't a big gun, yet. I don't think anybody will be disappointed with the games but don't expect a lot of passion in this thread.

But this entry looks like it could make Shantae into a very nice gun. One well worth firing into one's game system of choice.

Four. The first was for Game Boy Color (released in 2003), and was re-released on the 3DS Virtual Console. The second, Risky's Revenge, was released on DSiWare in 2010 and was later ported to iOS. The third, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, is in development for 3DS eShop and will be released by the end of this year.

The fourth, Half-Genie Hero, the game this thread is about, is the fourth game and the first HD entry. The release date hasn't been set but I'm thinking it'll be finished sometime late 2014.

You dissapoint me. WayForward is a good small developer that has faithfully supported Nintendo platforms for a very long time, and Shantae: Risky's Revenge is DSiWare most critically-acclaimed game.

Thanks, im playing the 3DS one (the first one i guess), and im having a blast. Very good game with interesting and original mechanics

The second one is also available on 3DS if you're interested. :) Most, if not all DSiWare games are.

Thats all, really? They are the best Classic 2D Platformer developers out there. Not being stuck under a huge publisher also allows them to create some awesome new IPs. dont undersell WayForward =P
