how does a roof not work? does it have holes in it? and that repair costs on that roof would be more then the total value of your car? What car are you driving? pics!

What kind of car is it? If it is a mid 90s to early 2000 then you perhaps should get it totaled. They usually give decent market value (sometimes more if they are unaware of problems with your car). Just blue book your car and compare what they quoted you to a car in your condition. Your car sounds pretty fucked up if it has a lot of rain damage and soon you'll probably have mold and shit smell associated with your car.

Ah I see... then he should let it declared totaled.. water inside a car will lead to molds and bacteria buildup creating an incredible bad smell.. the costs of cleaning that is probably not worth it.. they would basicly have to strip the car, clean it, dry it, check it and then rebuild the car..

Well he could just buy a bunch of bleach and just poor it in the car.  Get some bleached seats though...  Yea, he should total it (I mentioned mold and smell in previous post too).  He lives in Chicago...  Winters would be hell in a convertible.  Actually... fuck it...  I want him to keep it.  I want to see a youtube video of Ryan driving his convertible in Chicago during the dead of winter with the top down.

All totalled means is that the money it would take to repair the car is more than the money youd be able to sell the car in good condition. I dont know if you could deny that

Do yourself a favor and buy a Honda... Although I have a water cooling issue that I can't resolve in my 05 Civic EX  (need to top off the radiator every week or so, got it checked for leaks and supposedly no leaks)...

You could possibly sell it for more than they would give you. There are a lot of saab collectors. Some will pay 100$ for the hood emblem.

Well, the way it worked when hail totaled my last car was they took the average sale price of your car in your area and offered you that. So not the best, but not the worst either.

You can choose to accept or reject their offer. So it is possible to see it and still back out although I'm unsure why you'd want to take the necessary steps to repair it so it's fit for travel.

Cash out, buy something else.

Thing is, if they total the car, it goes on the title. You can buy it back from them, but the title will be permanently marked. If you really like the car, you can try to clean the shit out of it, but good luck.
