2/ It has the same buzz that the PS2 had and that sold rather well

PS2 also had no competitiion for about 10 months and this is probably one of the reason it gained alot of its momentum in its life.

GribbleGrunger said:

5/ It's a $100 cheaper (this will only help boost momentum for now though)

I don't know about you but $400 still seems rather expensive for the average consumer.

GribbleGrunger said:

8/ I believe it's going to be on the market much longer than the PS2 or the PS3 (significant factor)

That is true, however I predict a total decrease of audience in the gaming industry for reasons such as the economy and possibly the failure of trying to attract more new crowds and plus I don't exactly think the PS4 is a disruptive strategy.

12/ Emerging markets will become far more relevant as will CHINA!

I think there is a law from China preventing them to buy home entertainment systems. :P

Do you think it's coincidental that Sony Japan is now called Sony Asia? This generation is going to be HUGE.

Read the article:

"Sony said in November it received a safety certificate for its PlayStation 3 home console from the China Quality Certification Centre. The company said at the time it has no plans to sell the machine in the country"

They wouldn't seek that if they didn't intend to sell consoles there.

“If a drastic change is made, there will be some opportunities for us,” Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said in January, after China Daily reported that China may end the ban. “We have been preparing for that.”

And so have Sony.

It's still pretty recent that china has allowed game console sales but it won't a big factor mainly because the gaming market is smaller there.

They have around 30-40 million middleclass residents now and it's rapidly growing. Sony will target the VTV to the rest.

What do you mean by middle class residents ? (do these middle class residents also have the same income as your average US citizen ?) If so then thats a pretty small market to aim towards seeing as alot of them don't know about gaming.

PS4 - 80 mil
X1 - 60 mil
Wii U - 15 mil

3DS - 70 mil
Vita - 20 mil

Mapping China’s middle class

Generational change and the rising prosperity of inland cities will power consumption for years to come.

That is good news but now sony needs a game to appeal to the chinese demographic.
