Thought up of some more,

Orange Marmalade if you want Korean Twilight fixed with persecution.

The best twist on Astro Boy ever, PLUTO by Naoki Urasawa. I personally enjoyed this over Monster and 20th Century Boy.

Yamada and the 7 witches. Slice of life school comedy + supernatural done right for a change.

Oh and Nickelodeon by Douman Seiman. Not "good" in any sense, but uhh it's unique....

Anyone who likes manga should read 20th Century Boys and Monster. Both are, in my opinion, the best mangas ever created and masterpieces. Naoki Urasawa is a God.

Fanboyism aside, I want something in the line of both the series I mentioned above. I haven't read the other Urasawa's mangas but I heard they are different from Century boys and Monster. Something like Berserk would be cool as well.

Domo.

First, I'd like something along the lines of Yankee-kun and Megane-chan or Ore-sama Sensei. Both are comedies about former yankees trying to fit into normal school life.

Second, I'd like something like Skip Beat! or Glass Mask.  I guess both would be called melodramas where the heroine has to overcome all kind of bad stuff while trying to find themselves.

Club anime like Chihayafuru are also welcome.

First, go for yamada-kun and the seven witches if you aren't already reading, is from the same mangaka... or read Great teacher onizuka! There's gokusen too...

Second, Yamato nadechiko shichi henge (perfect girl evolution) is pretty great, not as great as Skip beat but one of the best shoujo out there, there's kimi ni Todoke too.. more romantic instead of comedic like SB! and PGE... but the tone is similar, specially with PGE...

Third, club based anime/manga... hummm... i take Chihayafur morelike a sport manga, a different one but a sport-shoujo manga... i'm reading baby steps, is about tennis..

Hmm. How did i end up here...

I've never read a full manga. I've been reading Psyren for couple of weeks, umm make that months. In the meantime i've finished quite a few full length novels but i somehow can't chain read this manga thing. Everything is so over the top and exaggerated and teenagers are too shy and weird or busy saving the world.

Recommend this noob (me) something intriguing if you wish. Anime shows i've seen and liked: Monster and Death Note.

Yeah i enjoyed both of those mangas..but i liked way more PLUTO... and I'm reading YAWARA! is the first great hit of urasawa, about a judoka girl... pretty fun, is more a romantic comedy with sportish twist...

On the line of those two great works.. could be HOMUNCULUS... similar in the seriousness and mistery, i just read first olume though..

and people looking for the greatest EPICNESS go for Shin angyou onshi... the BEST KOREAN MANGA EVER!.. one of the works of the same authors, The island, seemed quite interesting mistery/horror manwha but I haven't continued that too... stalled it some time ago and have forgotten to read it...

Thanks for the suggestions.

Reading Yamada and the 7 Witches.  I liked the Yamato Nadeshiko anime, might try the manga.  Kimi ni Todoke is one of my favorites.  I'll look into Baby Steps.  I forgot about Gokusen, I should try that.
