Meh, during the PS2 era, at E3, Sony started one of their presentations with the following "The console wars are OVER". They were cocky as hell during that time and it didn't cost them. The PS3 was only a flop at first because it cost more than a high end escort.


Was that before or after PS2 started dominating? Becuase if it was after, i could kinda understand them

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Any new console which can play older consoles games, is BC. This can be emulation (Virtual Console), physically playing the discs (Wii-U) or streaming (PS4). The facts are, the PS4 is FULLY BC.

Cause that would be cool and great, but that is not what Sony is saying.  Not what they said at reveal, not what they said recently.

Would be happy to see this change though. 

I'm pretty sure they said they will have BC with Gaikai or whatever. Sort of what MS might bring with the cloud and you'll be able to stream the older games. I don't know how good that will be for me, I don't have an incredible internet connection.

Yea, I remember the Gaikai thing, but that's the game running in and on the cloud.  Not on the PS4.  And you can't put your disk games in an have them play, sadly. 

Yes, for Gaikai to work you need a super good low latency internet connection to work.  It is actually significantly more sensitive than the Xbox Cloud proposed stuff.  Have they announced yet when Gaikai will be up an running?

I think you may have to buy the game again too.  I would hope they at least upscale the game.  Up-scaling older games is one of my big complaints with the WiiU.

Microsoft hasn't said anything good about backward comparability on the Xbox One either.  I really annoys me, as DirectX, the stuff running under the Xbox and Windows, is usually really good at that and it would be nice to move some Arcade and Dance Central over to the Xbox One.  (Dreams of running Skyrim in 1080/60 on the Xbox One - knows you can do it on PC, but wants it on a console.)

Hopefully, someone can put in a nice fiber optic internet cable in your area soon.

I went with the 360 this gen, and I still game on it every day. I have hoards of games both digital and physical for the system. Had MS offered BC, I'd have almost FORCED into staying with them. But since they're not and Sony is, I'm going PS4. BC is HUGE for me.

Do realize the kind of BC they are offering.  It's sure if it's exactly what you want. Plus it's completely net dependent.

Plus, you might want to make sure it actually works before you buy a new console.
