That commercial, to me, is absolutely fine. There is no spin there, no executives trying to fool us, just good-natured, humorous trash talking. It's funny and likable.

Crash commercials were so awesome, anyway.

Ratchet and Sackboy have nothing on PS1 era Crash Bandicoot.

I agree in terms of popularity and awareness.  I was just saying that old model of "platformer mascot" has largely faded away as Sega left hardware and Microsoft's attempts (Blinx?) that I remember failed.  Nintendo still carries it with Mario being as big as ever with massive selling main line titles.

Sony just doesn't seem to stick with a single entity as its defining character.  Sadly for Crash he stopped being relevant to 90% of gamers a decade ago.

Ugh, I hate it when the big three, any of them, take cheap potshots at the competition, it makes them look like a bunch of dickhead schoolchildren. You're adults, act like it for fuck's sake. I find it a massive turnoff when a company bashes another. That commercial would make me want Crash Bandicoot less, not more. (For the record, Crash is awesome, at least on PS1, and shouldn't be dirtied by association with such mud-slinging)

Yes I agree but worse is when their fans use it as an example of how to act as a gamer. It sets a poor example and leads to things like this

"

I want more of this lol, its entertaining.  "

Thats what happens when you set a poor example for your fan base.

Both Sonic and Crash mocked Mario, today they're Wii games XD

While I agree that the "mascot platformer" has declined in popularity outside of Nintendo, I still think Crash Bandicoot 1 and 3 are some of the finest non-Nintendo platformers ever made, and better than any of the Ratchet and Clank or LittleBigPlanet games.

A PS4 Crash Bandicoot made by Naughty Dog would sell the system for me.

Crash is owned by Activision I think, so don't get your hopes up.

This. The most mud could be swung at Sony. There last decade or so have been terrible. Sure, they're starting to turn it around now, doesn't mean the other 2 companies aren't in much, much better positions financially.

They've always kind of been dicks.

OT: look where Crash is today. I loved those games back in the PS1 era, Crash Bandicoot Cortex strikes back...... good times.

This wasn't about Crash winning, it was about PS1 winning by putting it in peoples minds that the PS1 was cool and Nintendo was for losers.

It worked.
