I am a very loyal 360 fan who bought a lot of software, MS stuff even Kinect and the neglect Lips game and peripheral. I used to believe heavily in Microsoft's software strategy when it came to exclusive games.
To recap history, MS stole a lot of games from Sony including once-exclusive AC and FF. Further, the 360 was also the go to system for some the best JRPGs of this generation including Eternal Sonata (timed exclusive) and Lost Oddysey. For the longest time, we also had the fantastic Bioshock as an exclusive and later Valve's games (Orange Box, L4D) and Alan Wake. Also, lets not forget the incredible Mass Effect which was a really amazing showcase for exclusive software.
But what the heck happened later in the cycle? All the great games went to Sony including Ni No Kuni, Tales series, and other exclusive titles (Last of us, Souls). I feel like MS gave up on creativity and single player games. They could have bought BioWare before EA picked them up thus securing exclusivity for the best Western RPG saga of this generation.
Instead, what we got was rehashes of Gears, Halo, Fable, and Forza. I'm not really interested in those titles, I'm interested in creative, and immersive single player games. This is the primary reason why I don't care to get an XB1 regardless of what MS announces. I simply don't trust their software strategy. They will just push multiplayer games, mostly shooters or co-op games as exclusives. I love a good single player game, I don't feel like this is their strategy.
I think Sony will continue to pump out amazing first party software and they will take the lead to bring the most JRPGs to the system as exclusives.
This is primarily the reason I'm switching sides next gen.
