I was saying the same thing a bit earlier. They started of the gen so well, but then it all kind of fell apart.
It might be in part due to Sony haveing a more talented 1st party studio line up, and the decline in 3rd party exclusives. The one year lead for the 360 likely made it cheaper for them to buy up exclusive game deals, since the loss in profits from skipping over the PS3 were smaller due to it's smaller install base. It ended up being all about the 1st party games as the difference in their install bases decreased, which is the one area MS (currently) aren't able to compete on, seeing as it's an area Sony have shone bright in for the last three generations.
If MS can beef up their first party with developers on Naughty Dog's level, this will be a moot issue. Until then, it's certainly worrying.
