Can someone explain to me plz:

Kickstarter is a company?
Through donation ppl can get money to create a project?
Donators get smthn in return if the project gets the sum it needs?

Kickstarter is a company yes.  If you have an idea for a project, and don't have the money to make it, you ask the internet for their money.  In general, you offer rewards for people who donate.  For example, if you donate 20 dollars to mighty no.9 you'll get the game when it comes out.  If you pay $50 you'll get the game with a soundtrack and other goodies.

And what if the sum fails to be accumulated? is it returned to the funders?

Your credit card is not charged until the project is successfully funded.

Cool, thanx for the answers guys!
I guess kickstarter is the trend of the days. Everywhere i look i see: kistarter for project .... etc.
Companies too afraid to fund a developer i guess

500K now

Keiji Inafune couldn't find a publisher? Really? I'm excited for the game, but it's getting kind of annoying to see people use kickstarter when they don't really need it.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

2.5 mill is a lot for a indie sidescroller.

It's 900k. 2.5m to be able to do 4 versions

No it wouldn't.  It's 900k to develop, + the company has to put fourth the money.  If that was enough to do four version than the company would have the funds to go with those four versions too.  And, IF they could do that, there wouldn't be a kick-starter to begin with.

Wow, this keeps on trucking along. 2.5mil may actually happen!

So, fans of megaman makes crappy pseudo retro grphics animated like shit, while megaman's creator goes for awesome 2D sprite with gorgeous animation.

Take that, indies ! =p

I'm in like Flynn
