Because Sony is for the casualz while Nintendo only attract the harcorez (wii gen doesn't count)

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I think both steal ideas from each other.
Remote play for example was a Sony ideia.
in terms of technology and hardware, other than motion controls with the Wii nintendo have been followers instead of leaders. media capabilities, online, relationships with third parties, technology and CD and other formarts and such nintendo has only followed. media capabilities of all nintendo home consoles have been limited and only started to exists with the Wii, online features speak for them selfs and they are still behind, relationship with third parties? they screwed over third parties as well speak for them selfs. the WiiU doesnt even have blueray play back niether have any home console of nintendo has any sort of DVD or bluray play back capabilities. im speaking about the home console market. and ever since Sony entered the market nintendo have been followers instead of pioneers with the exception of motion controls. Microsoft and Sony have lead the market much more

That's called respect in japan.

| pezus said: Note: I'm not saying Sony do that, personally, but I've seen quite a few people here who seem to think Sony can do nothing original and much or even most of what they do is a bad Nintendo ripoff. |
By "quite a few people" you mean one right?
Nintendo and PC gamer

what does an "Idea" have to do with sales ? sony always had more 3rd party support and more games. also sony is for everyone ps1,ps2 until the ps3 came out it was more for adults no one cant deny that.. that changed things slightly also the price was ****
nintendo is also for everyone but still more for kids...
so what happened with ps1 vs n64 ?
ps1 more games, better price overall , CD drive , pirates...
ps2 vs GC
ps2 more games , DVD , pirates..
i wont comment on ps3 vs wii I had that discussion trillions of times.

15 million PS moves sold beg to differ

Because when they steal the idea, they tend to make it far better, feel less like a gimmick.
But it's not like it always works out, look at Sony Smash or that half ass attempt at waggle with the Sixaxis before they went all the way with the Move.
On top of all that, they DO do plenty of innovation themselves on top of countering the competition's every move.
Really though, sales aren't solely determined by innovation, they aren't solely determined by quality, and they aren't solely determined even by marketing, it's all these things mixed together, and they just seem the best at keeping all things balanced.
