Nintendo cant be taken out while they have billions in the bank and dominance in the handheld market.

Sony sure tries, but microsoft has no chance of accomplishing that. They are more likely to take each other out.

Speaking of which I wonder how long they are going to stay making a dedicated handheld system when it is easier for them to port their games to iOS, Android, and 2/3DS systems and make boatloads of money.   But that's a diffrent thread I don't want to derail this one.

fuck no, keep my Mario away from shitty smartphones.

There's nothing they can do. The Wii U won't be the last Nintendo console. If it fails, they'll adjust and release one that is more in tune with the customers and developers demand.

when sony or microsoft steal mario

Its not about the sales, its about the profits. Nintendo has made more money then Sony even in there bad times.

ouch. this deserves it's own thread.

Only way its happening is if Nintendo start making massive losses and there share price tumbles, then one of them may buy them out, but thats such a big IF i certainly wouldn't put money on it.

I doubt they would go 3rd party without being bought.

They have to cause Nintendo to lose money until they have none. Which explains Sony's presence in the handheld market, otherwise Nintendo could live off their handheld division until they get their things together and cause trouble again.

2 reasons.

1. Nintendo also makes money from selling hardware.

2. Phones are not good gaming platforms. The controls suck.

Its more likely Playstation or Xbox takes the other down. Sony in general while seemingly turning things around Is still not in the best position ever and the Xbox division has yet to turn a profit. On the other hand Nintendo has posted profits despite 3DS and Wii U being doomed.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Nintendo is in a much better financial situation than Sony so it's doubtful they would become 3rd party in the foreseeable future.

They would make a good partner for Microsoft though as they dominate Japan where the Xbox brand is weak and together they would likely completely dominate North America and have a very large share in Europe. If they could come to some kind of financial agreement it would be glorious, I'd love to see what Nintendo could do with Kinect for example and they would have both basis covered in terms of core and casual and young and old.
