Forums - Nintendo - Is this a trend going forward? Nintendo releases WWHD and NSLU digitally earlier than the physical versions.

So that's 2 games from Nintendo so far that's releasing a digital version of the game earlier than the retail version.

Wonder if Nintendo will continue on this trend. I'm all for early digital copies if it's games like Animal Crossing.

Zelda: WW isn't at retail on the 20th?

Pikmin 3 released a day earlier as well, at least in NA

Wasn't that more like a bonus for preordering from a specific store on a specific day?

As long as they keep supporting physical copies I don't mind.

I don't think this is going to become standard practice with every release, but I do think they'll continue doing it ocassionally. And I don't have a problem with it.

Fine by me actually. Although I don't see a reason as to why they do it.

Nintendo and PC gamer

I think its a smart move since they have been trying to push digital sales recently.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The problem with this is that Nintendo will start looking worse at retail chartz. Thus giving fanboyz ammo on a regular basiz. Release WW HD 2 weekz0rz b4 retail. Game sell 400 000 on the 20th. Media Create comes a week after the physical copy ships. It shows WW sold 20k. Fanboyz laugh about how even Zelda bomba:D
