How much will 3DS sales be affected by the new 2DS model?

GBA Micro did absolutely nothing for sales and was quickly forgotten.

GBA SP was able to boost sales from 14m in 2002 to 18m in 2003 and sales remained strong for another 2 years.

DS Lite caused sales to top 20m for 5 years straight.

I know the sales would be nothing without software but the remodels had a role in it as well.

I think it will be like GBA SP, 2DS+Pokemon and a few other big sellers can cause sales to be a few million higher YoY.

2DS= Why is this a real thing?
I have a feeling that this'll be like the Micro. Or maybe that's just me being hopeful.

The micro was a horrible idea because not even with a magnifier you could see the screen. The screens sizes of the 2DS are the same as the normal 3DS which are fine imo.

The 2DS will be like the GBA SP, maybe even more considering price and the fact that it releases the same day as Pokemon. 

I'm reserving judgement on the system for my own use until I get to feel it in my hands and see it in person but to the actual question:

A $130 system to play Pokemon X/Y is a mighty tempting proposition for a lot of people. If my sister's kids were just a few years older I'd be buying them these and copies of Pokemon for Christmas no question. This has the potential for being a big seller for Nintendo however I don't think it's going to explode like a DSLite-like redesign. More like the GBA SP but not quite as big, maybe a few million YOY increase due to the redesign.

I'd be interested as to how much Nintendo will be making on these 2DSs and if this means we won't see a 3DS/3DS XL price cut until like 2016 (if they can maintain relatively high sales theres no need for it when they now have an low pricepoint entry device).

It's nothing like the Lite in terms of role, but it should majorly boost total 3/2DS sales to near 3DS levels.

I'm thinking SP.... I remember as a kid I really thought the SP was awesome with a clamshell design, built-in backlight, and rechargeable batteries (the inclusion of these blew my little mind). Now I think it's tiny and uncomfortable to use. Different generations will see it differently.

I can definitely see this boosting sales, but not DS Lite levels.

I could not beleive the 2DS was a real thing when I got home from work today. I was convinced it was a joke but alas it was true. I have a feeling it will pull a micro mainly because it's the ugliest handheld I've ever seen plus it may have brand confusion.

Working in retail I see so many parents come in and buy there kids a (replacement) DS because its cheaper and they are worried their kids will break it)..... so I could see this really taking off.

Not comparable to any of them.

The Lite and SP both came near the beginning of the consoles life as a vastly superior upgrade fixing major issues with a price cut to boot.

Micro came when the GBA was already replaced (not that they were admitting that yet), actually RAISED the price back up iirc, and while not the giant hideous step back the 2DS is (it did lose original GB BC though), didn't fix anything that needed fixing.

 The 2DS instead comes closer to the (likely) middle of the lifespan of the console, is the GREATEST hardware regression yet, and also the greatest price advantage yet (the other models don't fall to match it this time).
