IMO this is a genius idea, $130? the same day pokemon comes out? win, it's obviously aimed at kids and parents will have no problem buying this, i'll be getting a 3DSxl and a 2DS when it comes out.

I thought this was a joke. Didn't Gameinformer do a parody of 3DS called 2DS in one Gameinfarcer?

If it was just a simple version of the standard 3DS design then perhaps I would have bought it then for Pokemon and my sister would play the other games. Well at least I know I'll skip the 2DS. Vita and a second hand 3DS will be good enough for me.

I actually like it. Yeah I know, Nintendo fanboy, right? The shoulder buttons look really good to me and the other buttons are more spaced out due to the missing clamshell design which should be beneficial for people with cramping hands. It also looks sturdier which is perfect for children who are not allowed to use 3D anyway. I don't like that they cut the 3D from it though. It's also not as portable.

This version releases pretty cheap and on the same day as pokemon, so I expect it to sell some decent numbers.

At first I was like WTF???

But now, after that wtf moment passed, I think this is genius. And I remembered that my 2 nieces' birthdays are on October 20th, so yeah, Pokemon X and Y, and a couple of these, and I'll be the best uncle ever XD

it is ugly as f*ck.. but it is cheap.. i'll give it that..

We really needed a new better 3DS model with:

- Better autonomy
- Better 3D effect
- Better constrasted screen
- Lighter 3DS XL model

And you give us this instead? with 2 important features removed?

- No more stereoscopic 3D
- No more hinges

I am really disappointed.

Is it just me, or are the circle pad and d pad a little too high up on the 2ds? They are much much closer to the top of the system than on a normal 3ds or xl.

That aside, the price point is killer at $130 ... design is kind of bad obviously, but maybe it won't be such a big deal when people get their hands on it.

Also, I wonder if we will, down the road, see a Wii U sku without a Wii U game pad, and just a pro controller in it or something at a cheaper price point.
