Kinect 2.0 is a relatively discrete feature of the Xbox One, Microsoft knowing it cannot advertise it fully until gamers are convinced of it's pertinence to gaming.
What if it will have it's killer app at launch ?

well I'm not sure if you meant game wise or app wise....now that apps are on consoles too
to me it already has a killer app with voice recognition.... it's crazy how many time I feel natural to speak to my TV to operate it, just to realize I'm not running on XB... or even worst, right now I'm not at my place and didn't take the Kinect, so when using XB I really feel it's awkward, slow and unpractical (no more eating lunch while browsing the Xbox video store or at least not quickly/practically) .... so if my use of Kinect 1 or in that case not using it feels like missing something already I can't imagine with Kinect 2.... it will be like going from win 3.1 to win XP....
talking to devices is a natural thing as long as they react accordingly and without lag, it makes perfect sense no matter what some others might say (lazy, don't want, etc blahblah) unless you are disabled, speech is your main and most natural mean of interaction since you express directly what you want without intermediary... I guarantee you before I die we'll be speaking to a shit load of devices in the house and outside if not the house itself.... and well some people will be using remotes :D like some still have cassette tape Walkman or CRT TVs
now if motion control works well and while seating down, now that would be my second ++ in menu navigation... like Netflix, navigation is not the most practical with the voice (still faster if my pad is turned off and on the other side of the coffee table) but if I could travel through menu with my hands without to much lag and accurately rewind or fast-forward (because with voice or the pad it is just plain bad on XB360) that would be cool
for games I would love an on rail good old arcade shooter, like time crisis or virtua cop... or a good old cowboy and bandits shootout with the bad guys popping out and all but with the power of the current gen...or a superman/flying app with high quality 3D rendering of famous cities and places, so you could fly around and have fun like do a low pass next to the statue of liberty or pass under the Eifel tower.... then drop straight from Mount Rushmore and then dive it the crater of a famous volcano... etc a good table tennis game too like the rockstar one on 360 but with good Kinect support...
well anyway with the console being open to indies and the Kinect being packed in the box.... I'm sure we will see way enough killer apps/games to satisfy my needs...

endimion is right: Kinect already has a "Killer App", and the Killer App of that piece of hardware with it's super-expensive depth-sensing technology is voice recognition, which would in fact only require a 1$ microphone.
It's been the killer app with Kinect 1.0 already, and it's going to be the killer app with Kinect 2.0, because Kinect 2.0 is in fact just a minor improvement over Kinect 1.0, and thus will not allow for revolutionary new ideas/concepts that just weren't possible with Kinect 1.0 at all.

lol not true at all, I use voice recognition since way before kinect came out and there isn't anything that works with a 1 dollar mic that doesn't require a way more than a100 bucks software to work somewhat correctly.... best exemple samsung TVs have nothing on kinect
and that's without saying that without kinect each dev would have to develope their own tools and data bank... just because of that kinect blows any 1 dollar mic solution
that argument is so broken it's not even funny... people ar ecompletely lost when it comes to voice recognition tech.... but hey who am I kidding... we all know MS is doing so much R&D to waste money and just rape our wallets.... it makes perfect sense after all
and kinect 2 is vastly different than kinect 1 in it's very design... and already has proven to perform vastly better.... but that too doesn't matter they just wanted to change everything to waste a little more money to ass rape us a little more... that too makes perfect sense after all.... corporation are there to throw money out the window it's a well known concept....
but yeah we are getting fooled we all know that.... kinect 2 is just PR BS the cloud is PR BS the 180 is PR BS to go full circle mid gen.... and be carefull they'll even live stream you cheating in game to the NSA.... that's not PR BS this is REAAAAALLLLLZZZZEESSS
lol you guys are a trip lately.... I don't even bother answering after a while, once the missguided hate train is rolling it's just funny to seat back and read the show keeping its course... especially when there is new arguments coming in.... can't wait to see the one that will be about motion tracking being just as good with a 20 bucks webcam... I'm even surprised we haven't seen one yet...
anyway can't wait to have my kinect 2... sucks for the one that don't... I feel your pain, it's like getting a present you don't care about and still have to say thank you... must hurt your feelings I understand...

What if?! I think were past what if. The line-ups are already locked.
Wouldnt make a difference i dont think.
It would be called "Dance Central", but it's already out.
Kinect 2.0 is an even better showcase for what Microsoft has been working for years called NUI, Natural User Interface. They dropped the cards with Tablet Computing, but they are not going to let this one get away.
If it works like it should, it will be a great showcase within itself. You get spoiled quickly when you can just speak and have it interact the way you want it to.

I think that there are only 2-3 other people who regularly post on this site(besides me and you) that have any interest in the power and capability of the Kinect 2.
It's obvious when the haters start talking that they have not taken the time to even understand or truely use the Kinect 1. I too am looking forward to the voice capabilities in combination to my home theatre set up. Being able to play bluray movies through the XBOne is just one less component on my shelf. THe number of times that I have to look for a remote to do something is incredible. I just hope that the XBOne delivers like it looks like it can.

im fully convinced that kinect will be almost worthless for motion gaming. but you cant really say Kinect2.0 is a minor improvment. the tech is so much better in kinect 2.0
