If only they unlocked features in the game... But no. They're just empty challenges in most games. The worse of them are actually given to you for merely just playing the damn game. -_-

Unless it's the first 2 Uncharted games. In which they were actually tied to hidden features and bonuses.

I like them. Lets be honest here, the games this gen have been far too easy. Having added difficulty is never a bad thing. I would also say some trophies will have you doing things you have never done in the game which prolongs the games life. It also adds replay value when there probably wasn't any to be had.

& I'm the type of person that plays games on the hardest difficulty to begin with.

I love trophies and achievements. I love unlocking stuff period love the badges in Forza 4 and the metals in Forza Horizon for example.

is cool to have some sort of statistics of what you do in a game.but turning it into a competition breaks the fun of it

and of course saying you dont play a game that doesnt have trophies is a aberration that should be severely pursued

Me too, I would love to re-play Valkyria Chronicles and just can´t because it doesn´t have trophies.

There are good and bad things over trophies.

The best one is the I replay every game that have trophy support... so all HD releases lol.

I like the trophy system. Since I often tried to 100% my games before the trophy system was implemented it was not a totally new concept for me. Additionally my trophy list is my personal gaming diary. It is nice to have a list of every game that I have played in the last few years.

Since I liek to keep my special games in a collection, it is nice to have all Platinum Trophys in my favourite franchises. I would like to have all Platinum Trophies in Final Fantasy, Kindgom Hearts, Ratchet & Clank, etc...

My only problem with the trophy system are the online trophies... I must admit that I do not like competitive online multiplayer modes. I just can't have fun with them and If I want the Platinum Trophy I have to cope with them. To be honest, the mere thought that the gaming future will be online only troubles me. If the singleplayer or couch-coop will die I will stop gaming, thats for sure. Well, I would stop buying new games and would stay a retro gamer.

I'm a part time trophy whore (I'm not hot enough to be a real whore because for most games I'm not good enough to get platinum). But I'm happy to go off the game to play great trophyless games. I just got done going on a trip down memory lane with Valkyria Chronicles, love that game so much.

So for me trophies have enhanced gaming. If you know of any great trophyless PS3 games I'd definitely be willing to play them.
