New DS Lite Color Confirmed Cobalt/Blue heading to stores in less than two weeks. by Jack DeVries February 1, 2008 - On January 28th we posted a story about the Circuit City leak of a potential new Nintendo DS Lite color, Now the blue and black DS is no longer a rumor, as Nintendo released the official announcement today about the seventh color choice for the world's best selling handheld. The new DS Lite, dubbed Cobalt/Black, is set to release February 10 at every major game retailer nationwide. Nintendo of America compared the Cobalt/Black DS to a "black t-shirt with a splash of color" that "grabs your attention" in a press release today. Much like the Crimson/Black DS released last year, the new color scheme features a glossy color top as a highlight to the rest of the black exterior. Nintendo called the new color a "fashion-forward color scheme" in their press release, and stated that "now there's a Nintendo DS color to complement any outfit." The Cobalt color scheme will be familiar to original DS owners as well as Game Boy Advance SP owners. It joins Polar White, Coral Pink, Onyx, Crimson/Black and the limited-edition Gold and Metallic Rose as an official North American color scheme.
