We dont have full 2013 numbers but with Pokemon, Monster Hunter 4, Zelda, Mario Party and 2DS this holiday its totallly possible to match GBA 2003 sales

I stand corrected then :)

Hmmm.... This can be wrong but i doubt it, here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=76603907&postcount=342

It's only US numbers (NPD...) but, given those numbers, how is 3DS matching GBA sales? Not even DS did it (on USA that is)...

So you stand un-corrected, sir :)

3DS is tracking a few million ahead of GBA in Japan, a few million below in NA and pretty even in the rest of the world.

GBA wasnt hugely popular outside of NA

PS4 is killing Xbox One in Canada.

I've called every GameStop in my area and asked what pre-orders look like so far... Everyone has said it's at least 4:1 in favor of PS4

I called 600 in the us and gamestop said it's 142 - 1 in Xbox One's favor.

All the stars are aligned for PS4. It wins Japan and Europe by default and so far its winning in NA. If things go well enough it might outsell WiiU+Xbone combined.

With all the recent announcements with the WiiU, I wouldn't count on that prediction being true. :)

?? No wii-u announcements really change anything did they?

A price drop sure can convince alot of people. Don't follow your post tbh.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

I see it as follows. PS4=PS1, Wii-U=Gamecube and Xbone=Xbox 1.

Worldwide? Yes. But in North America, my money's still on X-One. The PS4 has higher pre-orders, and it will likely sell better in the first year. But the inevitable launch of Halo 5 in fall 2014 will be the game changer in that region.

P.S. Does anyone know the current pre-orders for PS4 and X-One in the UK?

The first Xbox had two Halo's and it got buried. I don't think an exclusive FPS will win the day. What's going to matter more if which console FPS fans want to own to play COD and Battlefield etc.

There are too many factors to call anything at this point. I recently read an old issue of Edge from fall 2005 where the Xbox 360 was described as a Playstation 2.5 in terms of power compared with the PS3 and that the console race was over before it had begun.

We simply don't know how this will actually play out with actual games and actual consumers beyond the hardcore, or what the real world implications will be or what will become the must-have features.

Maybe Kinect 2.0 and voice and gesture control of the UI will capture the zeitgeist, or maybe Sony or Microsoft will release must-have, generation-defining game of some kind.

I mean is there any way for Sony to screw this up?

They have the best chipset of the three and the most reasonably priced one since both Nintendo and MS got hung up on including expensive control devices in their boxes.

They are a full $100 cheaper than MS. Their system is easy to develop for. Third parties reportedly love it, so it will get a ton of devleoper support and perhaps have the best multi-plats.

Sony's embraced indie gaming as well and is even scooping up some of the more promising ones as exclusive. Their 1st/2nd party studios have gotten stronger over the years.

Nintendo doesn't have a Wiimote type craze to disrupt this console cycle either, and Sony isn't anchored to a $599.99 price point this time around either. Stripped of casuals, it looks like Nintendo is headed back to GameCube (worst case) or N64 (better case) levels. Which leaves MS.

Their launch lineup is a tad weak I think, but will be offset quickly by having so much developer support. Is there any way the PS4 doesn't win this gen worldwide? I mean sure, MS will probably give them all they can handle in the US, but globally ... looks like they have this gen on cruise control.

No

Sony could suddenly visit the houses of every single person that preordered and shit on their doorstep and theyd still win this gen.

You must be near-sighted. At this point in the cubes life span it was selling faster than wii u. XB1 is preorders are out pacing XB360 which pretty triple xbox sales. PS4..... it would be a miracle if it beat the ps3, beating out the ps1 is strickly fantasy :)
