Recently I've been looking at a lot of Indie Games. Trying to find some that are truly unique and awesome. Thanks to a friend of mine I stumbled upon Karmaflow.

As the title suggests it's a rock opera video game. What does that mean? It means the story is spoken through song, that's right it's literally sung to you.
The story of Karmaflow revolves around the Karmakeeper, a being who's tasked with keeping balance in the Multiverse. Something went wrong though and the worlds have fallen into chaos, it's your job to fix the balance by restoring the karmaflow. As you progress through each world you will hear about each world's downfall via the guardians of the world. Also you'll meet very interesting creatures as you explore the unique worlds.
The gameplay is action/adventure mixed with platforming and puzzles. As you traverse through the worlds you'll be able to upgrade the Karmakeeper and give him new abilities. Much of what the Karmakeeper is and what he is about is being kept a secret right now but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
One of the most interesting things as I've said is that the story is sung to you, but what's REALLY interesting is by who. The team creating Karmaflow has brought together a very unique group of singers from the Metal genre.
Some singers they've unveiled so far is: Marc Hudson (Dragonforce), Henning Basse (MaYaN, Uli John Roth), Elize Ryd (Amaranthe), Mark Jansen (Epica, MaYaN), Simone Simons (Epica), Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth, Devilment), Mariangela Demurtas (Tristania), and Alissa White-Gluz (The Agonist)
Each will playing as a character (hero or villain) and will sing out the story. Many of the characters are being modeled after the singers voices so that they resemble the style that's being sung.
The music of the worlds is also going to be unique. The team behind Karmaflow has hired the Dutch Metropole Orchestra to assist in the creation of music but they're also invoking the style of rock and metal into it. Many times during the game the music will change based on either what you want or what you're doing at the time.
Speaking of altering music, the story, which again is sung to you, has the power to change based on your actions. The story will diverge and thus give you alternate endings. This encourages multiple playthroughs to see how different you can make the story.
Karmaflow is totally worth a look. You can check out their main site here, listen to an interview with the creator Ivo van Dijk here, and if you like what you see and hear please donate to the Indiegogo campaign they're doing right now. It's in its last week though so please hurry. No matter how much is raised it goes to them once it's completed, guaranteed. And like other fundraising sites you get rewards based on how much you donate. Check out the main video to see the first gameplay footage of Karmaflow, Ivo says it's early alpha-stage but honestly it looks amazing already.
Karmaflow is doing something that truly hasn't been done more, incoporating music into the story and gameplay like nothing else before it. Please check it out and spread the word.
