Forums - Gaming - What are the PS4's Big Games in Japan?

Japan is so screwed this gen. Things are just getting worse and worse. The western gamer is sonys priority right now.

FF XV and KH III is on the PS4 so I am not really that worried.
Yakuza-Ishin could be a PS4 title loking at the sceen shots.
Level-5 is hinting a PS4 title we could see it later on their event.

If I had internet (not counting my phone of course) right now, I'd throw a facepalm meme at you. The release date for Japan won't be announced until September 9th, meaning it will be one of the last major markets to receive the console. Also, Japan's "holiday" season isn't until next year, so I'm sure Sony will announce titles aimed at that market at the Tokyo Gameshow.

Edit: No offense, but you really didn't think this through at all....

Another question then: If Sony is giving Nintendo two "free" holiday seasons, does that mean that they no longer care about Japan very much?

I wouldn't say that they don't care, they just don't see the Wii U as competition for the PS4. That was their mentality with the Wii and the PS3.

We won't know the full lineup until TGS and PS Event on 9/9/13.

That said, we already know of 3 big games in FF15, KH3, and the new MGS. There's going to be a new Hot Shots in the making, so that'll be another big title.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Look on the bright side. It cant be as bad of a showing as the XBOX did over there. But here in the States it reigns.

Why do you feel that he hasn't thought it out?

It's not just about holiday systems, it's about launch systems.  They seem to have a very western focused lineup with few games with any chance of success in Japan.  Games announced at TGS are unlikely to be released this year, so the question is what do they have for this year for Japan.

They've already announced which regions will be receiving the PS4 on the 15th and the 29th of November. Do you really think they'll release it in Japan in December? We don't know what they have in mind for Japan's launch, but it certainly won't be the games they're launching this year. Japan probably won't see the console until February or even March, which would be a month ahead of Golden Week.

It's hard for me to say.  They could just launch for the sake of launching, low demand due to games means they'll be able to support the more competitive parts of the world(US, Europe) while still taking part in Japan.

That would've been an option, but they were probably worried about alienating an already diminished audience by treating them as an afterthought. Consoles aren't the big thing in gaming in Japan anymore, but there's enough of an audience that they deserve a proper launch. There just isn't enough of an audience that the region deserves to launch with the rest of the world, given the supply of the initial stock of consoles.

honestly there are none lol COD looks like the biggest which means they have to show stuff at tgs. either way though it will still beat the wiiU and xbone with KH3/FF alone

I'm fairly certain that the Tokyo Game Show is going to give us a better idea of what Sony has in store for their launch in Japan.
