Forums - Microsoft - RYSE is disappointing. New Gifs.

These look mostly like short scenes being taken out of the context of the game as a whole.

I got to play it at E3. The demo was polished and the controls were fine. Any bugs I'm seeing here will probably be fixed by November. This build is also at least a month old, if not more. The most up to date builds are never shown at events because it takes time to make the demo.

The main issue with Ryse is that there is nothing special about it. It is pretty much just a glorified tech demo, at least going by what I've played. That won't make it a terrible, buggy game with poor controls, but it won't make it a great game either.

with all the motin capture they have done I'm pretty sure it's more than a tech demo.... it has a story.... it has a great setting and if the game play is not broken... I'm sold... what do you expect that's not here??? I don't get your point??? is it good or bad ???

What does motion capture and a story have to do with anything? That isn't game play. That's packaging. This isn't a movie, you know.

I stated my point pretty plainly: there is nothing special about it. But if you want me to quantify it in a single world: it isn't good or bad, but mediocre. It is a game with a lot of flash and spectacle, but not a lot of meat. The combat is simplifed and feels kind of stiff. It works, it functions, it serves its purpose, but in the face of games like God of War & Bayonetta, it just doesn't hold up. It feels like a game that I would have played on the original Xbox, minus the graphical flare and fancy cinemetography, which was rare at the time but pretty common place now.

Combat is simple button mashing with some optional fancy looking finishers. Unless the demo was REALLY stripped down, there is absolutely nothing here from a game play standpoint that the original God of War didn't do better.

It's an Xbox game with fancy graphics. If a mediocre game that functions and has some fancy packaging is enough for you, then by all means enjoy.

COD:Ghosts
BF4
Destiny
Titanfall
Dying Light

They are all cross-gen games that are anchored down by their PS360 design.

Killzone: Shadowfall is the only TRUE next-gen FPS right now.

It's on 360.... it's cross-gen, and therefore it's anchored down by the 360's specs. It's not a TRUE next-gen only game and wasn't designed to take advantage of next-gen specs.

I'd love to know how you know that given that we haven't even seen the 360 version (and I think it's being handled by a different dev).

But who cares anyway? I didn't get to play it, but Killzone doesn't really look all that impressive. I DID get to play Knack, and that isn't really a type of game that PS3 couldn't have pulled off. It just wouldn't have looked as good.

Titanfall looks incredible. Not really my kind of game, but I might just buy it anyway.

It does look incredible... on PC. Nobody has ever seen neither the Xbox One nor the Xbox 360 versions of Titanfall.

And the PC version will presumably be the exact same thing as the One version, because it's being made by the same team and is being marketed as essentially the One version. So kinda irrelevant. The only real question is if there are some underlying technical issues with the One version, but barring potential (and probably unlikely) bugs and frame rate issues, they will be the exact same. Most multiplatform games I've previewed have been on one platform, because it's easier to make a demo for one platform rather then two. Not ALL the time mnd you, but often.

The 360 version, being made by a different team, is another story.

Sure, but it's still designed to be on 360. and TBH from the gameplay I've seen it looks like a 360 game, or at least a game that started development for 360

Cause Ryse is like the laughing stock of here and Gaf.

Was looking forward to this game. Hopefully they can fix the issues.

omg... Ryse looks horrible IMO.

I read on NeoGAF that IGN was bashing Ryse big time
