Forums - Microsoft - RYSE is disappointing. New Gifs.

so far, this and Knack are my least hyped next-gen games.

And those are the two I am the most hyped about.  Thats gotta be the best part of video games, something for everyone.

I have no doubt Cryguys will iron all of this out.

@Slime
My thoughts exactly. Idk what Meta I think it will be, but I think it will be low enough that 1)The few ppl still hyping Ryse up will be silenced, and 2)It will sell badly.

Yup.

I think it will get higher reviews than it really should (M$ money + its a launch title). But it will still score poorly.

Can you explain this part?

i thought there was hope for this after E3... but there just isnt much time left to get it all ironed out. They will have to rely on patches, and lots of them at that. Even then I dont know if they could really fix the gameplay.

All those bugs are funny. I never mind bugs and I never mind unpolished games that are a bit rough around the edges.

And the graphics in Ryse are incredible.

But I smell a bad game here. The gameplay just isn't there. Like someone said, we can't forget this game started as an on-rails Kinect title. That in combination with a console launch release is guaranteed to mean a bad game.

~70% Meta and sales flop.

Maybe in your book but I have played many 70% meta games and enjoyed them a lot.  I also have played many 90 meta games and wished I spent that money on something else.  Also, I am betting we have not seen 10% of the game if even that much.  I know from my experience, I try not to judge a game to much from a demo because most times it's not enough of of the game to base an opinion.  Even worst trying to base an opinion on a game you haven't even played yet.

When all is said and done, the people who have played the game says its fun so thats a much bigger recommendation for the game then people who look at gifs and form a negative opinion.

Well I adore Dante's Inferno, 74% Meta.

I dearly love Two Worlds II, 67% Meta.

And I loved Hunted: The Demon's Forge, 61% Meta.

So I certainly agree that a Metacritic score doesn't mean everything.

But usually a 70% Meta game is a bad game. Especially as I believe the score of Ryse will be somewhat inflated by a few reviewers giving it relatively high scores out of pity or out of spite.

To me it seems we've been allowed to see large portions of Ryse already. We've seen the arena and several levels from the campaign, the beach, city and the swamp and more. I would say I have gotten a great feel for what this game is about.

~70% Meta. Remember you read it here first.

Actually someone already predicted it would be around high 60s or low 70s.

Bummer!

me i'm on high 70 low 80.... like I said before... especially since gameplay won't be the selling point of that game and MP even less I don't even know why they put MP in that game... it could be a chariot game for all I care... what I want from that game is the Roman era atmosphere a nice story in that time frame with good animation and events... and so far it has delivered and the depth of the gameplay is way deeper than what I expected already... I have more than 100 kill scenes and a bunch of animation other than 4 sword swings and shield attacks like in skyrim I'm happy....

I think the game can get a high 80 low 90 to be honest. It looks fun to me, and I think Crytek will be able to make the combat look more fluent. As IGN already said do not worry about Ryse.
