Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario 2D Galaxy

Super Mario 3D World obviously is taking a page out of 2D Marios book and it got me thinking, what if they took the concepts of Super Mario Galaxy and turned it into a 2D side scroller?

The Galaxy games had 2D sections. I don't think a full game comprised exclusively of those sections would be too great, but if Nintendo wants to do it, they'll do it well.

I guess it doesnt necessarilly need to be like Galaxy but 3D Mario has always been known for trying new things. 64/Sunshine/Galaxy are all vastly different and 2D Mario has always been more or less the same basic concept. I would like to see a 2D Mario try some cool new crazy things.

interesting idea. but i'd rather Galaxy-like worlds to be added to SM3L at this point in time, i don't think Nintendo wants to make another 2D Mario for now. NSMB2 came out just last year.

I do think 2D mario needs some fresh Ideas. Including Artstyle by either doing something different than the 3D ones, or something like Rayman Origins.

But, I'm not sure fresh ideas are best achieved by borrowing from 3D ones. But I could be wrong.

I rather enjoyed the 2D sections of Galaxy, but a whole game like that?

...

I dunno. It would be better than NSMB for sure, but that's not too difficult right now.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I'd prefer if they added a space themed world to the New Super Mario Bros. overworld.

And people are already saying that there are too many Super Mario franchises out there (2D, 3D and now the fusion between the two). Imagine the reactions if they added yet another one.

damnit, vgchartz has issues with embedding youtube.
